FL Studio 8 Released

Most of you will be familiar with FL Studio, and I know many of you swear by it. Well the latest addition, FL Studio 8, has been made available, the culmination of 10 years of FLstudio development, and it looks to have a whole bunch of useful new features.

One thing that I know many of you with MIDI controllers will love is that it looks like MMC support has finally been added, for the external triggering of transport controls. These will allow FLstudio to be controlled via standardized midi signals, from a midi keyboard or MPD24 for example, to play/stop/record, and so on.

You might like to watch the FLstudio 8 Video Intro, or take a look at a huge screenshot showing many of the new features in detail.

(Click this image to see the full size FLstudio 8 screenshot).

As well as all the existing FLstudio 7 features, FLstudio 8 has added a lot of new stuff.

One such new addition is the FL Synthmaker, which allows the user to create their OWN FL synth, effect, or dashboard, and share them with other users.

Another feature is the Edison wave editor, which enables one click recording, and a built in audio editor.

Slicex, is a powerful new drumloop slicer & re-arranging tool that will be a popular one for sure.

The very aptly named Soundgoodizer is a new sound enhancing plugin which is based on the Maximus sound-process engine.

Another new feature which jumped out at me as being quite an interesting concept is the Score Logger, which automatically logs every piece of MIDI and note data, whether or not recording is enabled. This way, if you then suddenly decide you'd like to work with the little piece of melody you were just playing around with, you can dump it into your piano roll, as if you'd had record enabled the whole time.

There are a whole bunch of other new features which have been added as well, so I'd recommend you FLstudio heads get into it and check it out.

As always if you're interested in trying out Flstudio, you can download a fully functional flstudio 8 demo, with only the ability to Save your songs disabled.

Works like a dream here. I've been using FL since version 2 and I really think it is a wonderful tool! I really do recommend it for anyone, regardless of style or genre. But if you do, get the Producer Edition or the XXL, you really do get the most bang for the buck from those packages in the long run!
