Free audio editor - Audicity

Pretty much everyone involved in music production will need at least one audio editor, the industry standard currently being SoundForge.

Packages such as SoundForge while extremely powerful and undeniably useful, are in some instances too expensive for the individual working in their home studio.

This is where free open-source software comes to the rescue!

Audicity is a free audio recording and editing program, which supports virtually everything SoundForge does. While not as polished a piece of software, it certainly provides the basic functions which most users require when recording, and editing samples and tracks.

Audacity even supports VST plugins and a raft of other useful plugins and enhancements.

Open Source audio software is certainly something which I'll be keeping an eye out for in future.
