This was our very first track as barbershoppe, a collaboration between 3 part-time musicians. The inspiration came from the traffic in Johannesburg, South Africa. I love to listen to calming tunes while I sit in hectic traffic, to calm my senses, and not get frustrated by all the crazy taxis and road rage. Chill out!!

I like the acoustic bass. Now why didn't I think of using some acoustic bass in something? Sounds classy.

Thanks Mike. If you liked that one - I can upload some more. We (barbershoppe) love the acoustic bass so much, we end up using it a bit too often. That is a great bass sample though - can't remember, but I'm sure it was the standard Cubase SX acoustic bass. Awesome aftertouch...
Yeah. That would be cool to hear more of that.

Very classy music bro. Nice and jazzy. Charming. Welcome to Maketunes!!!!
Could you guys head over to http://www.myspace.com/barbershoppe for now to listen to more of our tracks.
Uploading is very slow for me. I will do it sometime - I promise.
Sure bro!
Hey man, you got some very classy tunes over there. I heard everything. What you need to do though is to get each song individually uplaoded here, because then you can get feedback based on each individual song. As it is right now, my feedback just covered all your songs and that isn't as inspirational as feedback on a single track basis. When you upload here, paste the url links at my forum "DO YOU WANT FEEDBACK?" and you will get alot more feedback and internet traffic to hear your songs. I wouldn't mind talking about certain sections that I really liked and what really really works... but you gotta get your music over here bro! Trust me. THis site is much better for exposure and interest in your music then myspace. Take my word for that one bro! Peace!
PS.... you really have the jazz genre down pat. You will represent the whole genre as I don't think anyone else sticks to it... Great stuff!
Damn. What a smooth track, dude. I really like it. That beat has so much feel to it, it's awesome! Real nice work.
Thanks fro all the kind words... and the advice.
I will upload some more tracks soon, as I promised.
The beat in this track is something we modified and changed from Stylus Groove Generator v.1. There are actually 2 beats overlaying each other.
great stuff ! really great vibe to it very relaxing reminded me of groove armadas slower stuff , i realy liked it!
Yeah ed thats what i thought too when i heard it!Great, very melodic, jazzy track.
Well it's obvious you guy aren't from NY if this was created from the traffic lol. Sounds very peaceful to me, must be a great country :- ) Production is nice and clean keep up the good work and welcome to the maketunes family.
Wolf21 - The traffic in Johannesburg is some of the worst in the world! We have taxis that practically own the roads, and break every traffic law all the time with their dangerous driving. We have deteriorating roads with potholes and traffic lights not operating 100%. Our road infrastructures were built for half a million cars, but we have about 3 million on it. Add to this the road rage everybody has as a result from these conditions, and you end up with many frustrated people. The only way to mentally survive this (for me) is by listening to chill music in the car on the way to work and back.
I've been to NY - awesome city. The traffic in NY is hectic, but I guys your worst problem is grid-lock in peak hours.
ok I get it now. When you mentioned traffic I was expecting some crazy angry type of music, but you were clearing your mind of all the chaos...that's cool.
there must be some pretty laid back traffic in South Africa....lol.....nice malow track by the way.....
