Cafe Latte by Illusive Mind

  • Artist: Illusive Mind
  • Title: Cafe Latte
  • Year: 2007
  • Length: 3:52 minutes (5.32 MB)
  • Format: Stereo 44kHz 192Kbps (CBR)

A friend of mine mentioned he liked music in the 'cafe' genre.
"The WHAT genre?"
"Cafe, y'know the chilled music they play in cafes."

Whilst I dispute such a diaphanous distinction, I decided to craft a song to fit the bill anyway!

Enjoy.

See? Now I want a martini on the rocks and I wanna tip the musician! Way to go bro. I totally enjoy the groovy drum beat numbers. "K"ool with a capital K!

Hey Sole, bottle of Scotch and plenty of ice with that order and ask them to leave the bottle on the table bro, I'm on my way! Is this a cafe or a bar? Anyway with music like this who cares!

Great job Illusive ;)

Coolboy in the mix.

I had to resist the temptation to put some fat synths in there, I really did!

Doesn't get better than that.

Wow thanks Amittai,
I have to say though I'm mostly mixing loops here, rather than making the melodies from scratch which I think requires more mastery.

Nice pic bro. The making of the melodies is what I do best.(besides sing)

Thank Sole,
I think it's the funnest part of the process too.

I've remastered the track by bringing the levels down changing some fx and eq settings, I think it's a lot clearer now.

There's quite a noticeable difference in the levels, good job. I did kind of like the loudness of the original too, well now I've got both, one for daytime and the other for evening listening :)

Coolboy in the mix.

Haha thanx Coolboy.
I think most pop-music is over-compressed these days, there's no dynamics anymore, everything is pushed as far too clipping point as possible so it plays nice and loud on shitty car-radios and whatever else.

If you listen to classical music, there are peaks and troughs, you can hear the detail and it just means turning up the volume knob.

Nice one Illusive - I snorted with laughter as I read your response to the guys start "ordering" hard liquor after your intro about cafe/coffee! On contemplation, I think I might be able to offer an explanation - Sole is from Alabama, and unless my perception of the South is completely askew... they don't do coffee - its hard liquor and/or the road ;)

illusivemind's picture

LOL.
We've got some great Cafe's in Melbourne but I'm more of a 'Flat White' man now.
Maybe I'll do another song called 'Pub Beer' *shudder*.

Can't believe I haven't listened to this before. Very nice. BTDub...I have some newer versions of The One Power and Shadar Logoth posted. I think they sound much better than the originals. Keep it up.
