This is so freakin cool, you're gonna love it!
This guy Kutiman took a whole heap of totally different unrelated home musician videos from YouTube, and remixed them into 7 sweet new tunes! WATCH THIS NOW! :D
The mother of all funk chords
Its from ThruYou.com. He's got a whole bunch of other YouTube remixes as well.... I'm off to check them out now!
Ok, wow. He's made remixes in heaps of different genres, all still from totally unrelated home musician videos on YouTube. These are so well done, I hope you all take the time to check them out.
See more below...
This is what it became (Dub track)
I'm New (Rap / R&B track)
Babylon Band (Drum & Bass track)
Someday (Downbeat track)
Wait for me (Funktastic groove)
Just a lady (Soul sound)
Amazing. Humanity needs more creativity... home musicians, artists, video remix magicians - I really believe that.
Here is a final word from the creator, Kutiman - about how he made these YouTube remixes... that's one chilled out dude! Keep doing what you do Kutiman!
As he says, alongside the youtube info notes for each of the videos above, you can find the links to the original home musicians videos to see/hear his source material.
Remember you can check out his website Thru-You.com

Totally eh Illusive! It just blows me away how fully entertaining they are, creative, fluid, soulful, and just great songs too! Combining the separate creative expressions of a hundred different home musicians scattered around the planet who would NEVER have met, and in many cases probably never performed to an audience.
How dam cool is that?! Now they're getting seen and heard by hundreds of thousands of people around the world already, and millions more to come once the word starts really spreading.... the videos were only released a week or so ago. I've seen comments from many of the musicians whose clips were used, just saying they're honored and excited to be a part of it, and that they feel united with creative people around the World. I think this sense of connection and unity between creative humans is really important, particularly at this point in history.
In my opinion, this is just SUCH a positive project. Humanity needs more exposure to stuff like this, instead of the totally negative, empty, vomit-inducing TV/music/entertainment that has spread like an disease throughout the World over the last couple of decades. Something unashamedly creative, that inspires and unites and is good for the soul!
Finding this project also reaffirmed to me how glad I am to have started maketunes, in the hope that it in some way has a similar effect over time.
matt- that's very cool
but what's with all the sentlemental comments?!!??
Did you drop a biscuit (the pharmacological kind, not the gastroenterological kind) without sharing?
Hey, can I have 1,000 user points since i'm your friend in real life?
Thanks
Mike ;-P
Its called having a strong sense of empathy for humanity, and its current state of affairs! Also wanting to see more of this sort of improvement from the vile pit of decay and dehumanizing bullshit that forms much of the entertainment industry (which effects everybody day and night, everyday of our lives). I want to do everything I can to help this sort of positivity and creativity eh, there is so much utter pollution for the mind around now. Feel very strongly about all this stuff.
Bah humbug, no points for you lol ;) Yeah that is a cool project to check out though, pass it on! Definitely my favorite collection on youtube.
cool.. bet he spends alot of time working all those cuts out.. the results sound crazy..
I reckon Teddy, it'll be sooo much time spent in his music/video editing room - it looks like a very chilled out place to work though. I'd really like to hear him talk some more about how he put it all together...
Yeah that was a pretty big room he had.. alot of space is always good.. it would be cool to see a video of him making a song. To show everybody exactly how he does it.
See this is exactly why our copyright laws are so outdated. They prevent precisely this kind of free exchange of ideas and creative sampling and remixing. You're not stealing from someone else your sculpting new artwork for a new culture.

right words, illusive. that's so true.
(even if i dislike that "we are the world" mood of the worldwideremix, sorry.)
For sure, to see a music video being constructed from odds and ends like that would be so sweet. His attitude was really cool too, as he said in that About video at the end,
"...beside every video you can find the links from the original youtube movies. You can go thru them and try opening different movies, in different tabs, and you can play with it. Its nice."
Yup I agree Illusive, such severe limitation of creative freedom is not cool at all. We need more exchanges of this nature and others, no doubt about it in my mind.
To me there was nothing forced or cheesy about this world wide remix. I can't stand fake or over-the-top hand-holding between nations either, but this to me is about nothing other than good *genuine* aspects. But hey, you're free to have your own opinion ;)
awesome!!!

That's absolutely aMAZing! This is the creative aspect of music that is just mind-bogglingly awesome! :D
Awesome! Absole-freakin'- Lutely Awesome! Doin this shit right here and grabbing bits and pieces from here and there and then assembly a song, is a WHOLE other level. Really cool stuff and thanks for sharing!
I have 3 favs from the Kutiman Project
~ Wait For Me
~Just a Lady
~Babylon Band
but they are all equally great and I love how he made all 7 tracks sound like a different genre of music =)
Just watching these is making me all warm and fuzzy inside! Although I don't know what software he uses to make these, I do know that Arkaos Grand VJ would be optimal to do this. It would cut your creation time in half, and increase creative flow. Basically Grand VJ is live video editing and VJing software, that doesn't need some sort of crazy external controller that costs an arm, leg and left nut. You use your MIDI controller, assigning specific video segments to specific keys, and then FX and fades and cuts to other keys that you can control the aspects of said FX/cuts with knobs and sliders. Basically playing video like it was music. I can't run it because I don't have a good enough video card, not that you need the best one in the world, I just happen to have a really crappy one. But I saw this program used at a party once, and asked the guy if I could play with it. Didn't know the guy but he let me anyway. With in 10 minutes, I had it down! I had people asking me questions about it instead of the guy who owned this. I was dumbfounded. Its that frickin easy to use. Now you'd still have to spend hours searching for all these videos, key matching them, cutting them down and all that jazz, but once that was done, the creative flow would be so smooth and natural, stuff like this would just spill out of your mind into the world with ease. These vids are AMAZING!!!!
Take two of these beats, and call me in the morning. Doctor's orders!
In Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden, web hosting major Internet service providers have voluntarily, possibly to avoid such an arrangement being turned into law, agreed to restrict access to sites listed by authorities. While this list of forbidden URLs is only supposed to contain addresses of known child pornography sites, the content dedicated server of the list is secret.[citation needed] Many countries, including the United States, have enacted laws against the possession or distribution of certain material, such as child pornography, via the Internet, but do not mandate cheap vps hosting filtering software. There are many free and commercially available software programs, called content-control software, with which a user can choose to block offensive websites on individual computers or networks, in order to limit a child's access to pornographic materials or domain name depiction of violence.
