Hey DjParanoid - nice name ;)
As you know the MIDI keyboard is simply used to trigger instruments, so finding a sampler VST and loading it with your WAV samples would be how I would do this.
grizzly is a free sampler VST, though it only has 8 sample banks. But it might be worth trying?
Native Instruments Battery is the real deal when it comes to VST samplers that you can load truckloads of samples into, and have greater control over.
Hope that helps.
Hi mate i use acid 6 but i dont use midi anymore but i have an idea what u may need to do, firstly you need a midi control keyboard (obviously) he he. i hope you have a reasonable sound card as well otherwise you will get latency problems (the delay between hitting the key and the note being triggered. once you have these and i assume you do you will need a softsynth program, for example "Absynth" ( i do recommend absynth it has the most amazing sounds i ever heard on synth software) whichever program you are using for your synth sounds, go to preferences in acid, go to vst instruments and make sure your synth program is recognised by acid, if not. point acid to the folder where you installed the synth program from the vst instruments folder, once you have all these set up you will need to make sure midi is enabled on your sound card, ensure the transmit and recieve channels for midi are set correctly. if youve down all this correctly then when you open acid and go to record midi it should work. hope this helps but if you get stuck and want a morehelp just drop me a line here in the forum or at jimzsta@hotmail.co.uk good luck buddy
Hi again, i just read your question again to make sure i anwsered it totally, i may just add that i believe you are trying to trigger wave files in acid via keyboard "Forget it" as far as i know its impossible to trigger a wave sound via midi in acid, you can trigger midi based sounds from your sound card, or a vst synth program, however if im wrong about this and you find a way of triggering wave sounds in acid via midi i would be interested to know it myself, though i feel its not possible, but you can of course drop the wave samples in from the explorer in the program cheers dude...
Yeah Jim that was what I was explaining above.... using a software sampler VST loaded into acid, (which itself is loaded with with WAV sanples) - that should be possible correct? I know you can do it with virtually every other VST host such as Cubase, Sonar, FLstudio etc, but haven't confirmed this with Acid Pro
I know for a fact in ableton live you can trigger a wav mp3 or vst with the MIDI keyboard. It is a great program for using your keyboard on MIDI you can put anything on it.I just got acid pro 6 jimsta.I know the program came with over a thousand loops. How do I open them and what folder do I look in for them?I clicked on the loops and sample back up and it took me to the web for the right program to open it and it said I need adobe audition to open the file.If you could let me know how to get to the sample the program came with I would appreciate it bro.

Hmmm whats the file extension for those loop libraries Bizz?
When I installed the loop library it had a zip file in the program folder called emu I believe.I opened that and it has a manager file inside called sony sound series loops and samples. When I click on it it says go online to find the apropreate program to open.I went online and it said I need adobe audition to open it.I don't know why it is a acid pro file?I am not even sure if that is the loop pack.I figured the loops would already be in the program.
B E-Z and Keep rockin,Dj Bizzerk
Yeah that must just be your PC doesn't recognise that file extension, and the useless microsoft site doesn't have a clue whats going on... (when you click the "find the appropriate program online")
Especially if its the sony sound series loops and samples, they're made specifically for Acid.
I'm not sure whats going on with that Emu / Manager stuff, but they're definitely all meant to be a giant collection of normal .WAV files. Perhaps instead of running the Manager there might be a folder somewhere there with just the WAVs in it?
If that doesn't work, perhaps one of these tech support answers might help?
Sony Acid tech support - Media Manager Issues
Alright I thought is was going to be a pack of wavs, but like I said it was the sony sound series blah blah blah.I will check out that tech suppoert I really want to see what those samples are like.

I bet if you find out where it was installed to, eg probably something like
c:\program files\sony\sound series\
I bet if you track down the folder where it was all installed, you'll find some sub folders within it, filled with WAV files... often the "sample manager" type software is just to make it easier to sort through them, but the straight WAV files are usually stored somewhere as well
Ok ya I will go back in the folder and search for the wav files.

I got the sample thing resovled Matt, but now I am in another situation.I just got my mic and I am trying to record my vocals in acid pro.I can hear my voice through the speakers, but when I try to record them with a MIDI channel I can hear my voice still but it doesn't record them.I am a little confused beings this is my first time using a mic on a program.I hope maybe you or some one can help me with this.
B E-Z and Keep rockin,Dj Bizzerk
Oh yeah man no worries - you have to create an AUDIO track to record your mic audio input with. Midi tracks can ONLY record midi data to trigger notes etc. (That said, I haven't done any audio recording in Acid before, but I assume it works the same as most other audio software in this regard)
Ok man I will try that.I have never used a mic with a program before only live.I will let you know what the deal is once I try it.

cheers guys all sorted thanks all helping me
Cool, glad we could help man
So, how do you actually record what you hear when playing the VST via a midi controller? For example:
Loaded vocoder VST
Insert midi track
arm for record
hit record
all notes show up on track
but no sound output from vst
is there a trick to link the vst to that track for playback?
The keyboard will always trigger the sounds in the VST as it should, its just s arecording them that way issue.
Thanks all.
Yeah all you need to do now is look at the midi track you want to have playing, and as the left side details you should see amongst the other little icons, a little MIDI symbol and the number "1" (by default). Click that and you'll get the MIDI Output dropdown menu, and now just select the VST instrument you want that midi track to play. There may be other ways to do it, but that's what I do :) Hope that helps.
Of course, right after asking this I actually figured that out. But nice to hear it as well to confirm this is the right thing to do.
Thanks
