Hey Chris, welcome to MakeTunes bud.

Hmmm ok, how far have you got? Have you managed to get the MPD24 working with any other software? That would be my first test.

Are you just using the standard USB cable to connect it?

Are you certain that USB port is functional?

hey man thanks for the get back...

ya i've tried the usual. i use the mpd with serato and ableton no problem. cubase just doesnt want to pick it up. gone into cubase's device manager and can see the USB audio device in there but when i activate it on an actual track in cubase i get no love. not even a midi signal.

so i pop back to my keyboard and it works no problem.

needless to see it has me scratching my head since i've never experienced this before with any sort of usb midi device.

Right ok, well sounds like you've covered the first things like making sure it works with other software.

I don't have Cubase installed on this machine, but presumably you're totally familiar with assigning the correct MIDI input device to a different midi controllers? Sounds as though you are. Hmmmm

What MPD24 preset are you using out of interest? When I used Cubase/MPD24 a while back, I think I tried a few different ones, and I'm pretty sure it did work with all of them - but I don't think I used the Cubase preset in the end, I think I used the Battery preset as I was wanting to control NI Battery VSTi. The transport controls still worked fine of course.

What are you wanting to control with the MPD24? If its a VST sampler/synth then from (hazy) memory I think I created a midi track, loaded Battery into the Cubase VST window, and then on the new midi track I assigned the USB DEVICE as the midi input, and output I selected the Battery VST. I *think* that was all.

When it came to MPD24 -> Cubase Transport controls however, I had to change a couple of settings in the Cubase preferences... let me find the thread I posted... here it is
