Best Strings So Far...

Hi All,

Over the years I've tried alot of strings based VSTs and always been a bit disappointed with the tone/timbre ect. They never sounded right because the bowing was crappy.

Came across a decent bit of software called East West EWQLSO PRO. I know alot of you folks use strings sometimes, so this one is def worth a look if you haven't already.

Workin on a track using them atm, will post when it's done.

I'll use nothing but Kontakt 3 for my strings. You can layer different string instruments at different timbres and velocities. As many as your computer can handle. For example, I layered 2 violins thirds apart with a viola up three semi-tones and a cello at natural. Sounded like a real string quartet. Like some Chronos Quartet shit! (The quartet that did the music for Requiem For a Dream) It's also good for any other sample based instrument... it's just a memory hog! I will check out this, cuz I'm always on the hunt for a good VSTi!

Be good... or just good at it

yeh i love the requiem for a dream tune, it's about as hardcore as strings can get :).

By the looks of it you can use it with kontakt. Highly recommend the cello's and viola!.

I've used East-West stuff for a LOOOOOONG time! From sample and loop packs under the pro-samples name to Refills like the Giorgio Marauder rare synths! They make damn good products, only rivaled by Big Fish Audio, IMHO...

I've tested out every above but I tell you guys the best strings come from Garrinton Personal Orchestra. The lushness of the string alone makes you wanna wet yourself.
