I've had a lot of success using Craig's List to bring people to my web site.
The site explains itself: I write songs. Here they are. Some of them might be one singer away from being hits. Are you that singer?
I place ads in the "Musicians" section of Craig's List, choosing cities I think have a lot of industry activity (LA, Nashville, New York, Atlanta, etc.) The ads can't be too much alike, because Craig's List will refuse them if they are.
The concept is simple. Click on "I Can't Sing" and you get "But I can write" and my web site address. "I'm A Bad Singer" gets you to "But I'm a good writer". They stand out among all the ads for real musicians.
Craig's List is free. The only disadvantage is that your ad moves down the list as new ones come in. In a city with a lot of activity, it's good for only a day or so.
For me, it's all about getting the people to the site. My statistics tracker shows me that most of them will stay for a while. I have a lot of other content that's strictly for amusement, but it all serves to help them remember my music.

Thats interesting, how many visitors did craigslist manage to bring in?
From the cities I targeted yesterday, I got 163 hits in 24 hours. And the ads were in the "musicians" section, so I have to assume that a large number of the respondents were professionals who went to the site specifically for the songs.
I just checked out a couple of your craigslist ads, and noticed you didn't include the http part of your website address, which presumably would have turned it into a clickable link on craiglist? I noticed other postings on craigslist have clickable links, so presumably its allowed and stuff? If so, you might like to try that, and you might get more people clicking through to check out your site as well? Just a thought
Good point. Thanks.
I guess I could put a positive spin on it by saying they had to work harder to get there so they must be serious.
