Hello Guest - Electronic Music Contest
28 December, 2007 - 12:30 — The Sole
THis is the first ever techno generalized contest ever to be held on maketunes.com. The following genres are allowed: techno, trance, hard style, DnB etc. The tracks must carry a steady kick. Get your dance shoes out. Genres not allowed are trip hop, hip hop, rap, country, and rock. If you aren't sure if your music belongs in this contest don't post it. If you wouldn't hear it in a club don't post it here. You must post a link to your song here in this forum in order for it to count. Any songs submitted here or uploaded to maketunes.com before January 1st 2008 do not count! There will be two divisions in which you can win. Vocal performance and instrumental. Sampled vox created by others not yourself fall under the 'instrumental' division. You may submit up to 4 songs by the deadline which is midnight on January 14th! That is two weeks to submit your music. Teddy Brazello and Jnizzy(JNUTT) as well as Capricorn One are the judges. The first place winners of best vocal performance and instrumental performance will each receive all original melody samples which will be longer then one minute in duration. The beat will be separate from the melody line so the winner can use it to quickly create a song at their own whim. These samples will be original and copyright free! Use at your whim as previously stated because by then you have earned it. There will be no negativity tolerated and anyone caught doing so will be disqualified immediately. Limit the amount of small talk to avoid the maketunes Page 2 dilemna. Good luck to all involved! I am a contestant as well and I hope to see you at the finish line!
By the way, I have devised a 3rd division. In the 3rd division, you must use this complete song structured vox of mine from start to finish. You must make the music and beat encompassing the vocals which are already tweaked. The vox is located here: REMOVED SORRY ED OWNS THE VOXAnd the lyrics. GOOD JOB ED! You earned them man!

The best track to be created using all the vox wins, and the winner keeps all rights to the lyrics as well as the vox from me. This is the only prize but probably worth more then any prize thus stated in any of the competitions so far. Again, good luck to all of you and I hope to see you on the first!

Yes. You will have to go to the user account and click COntact and then type something. They respond and you each will have eachothers email at that point. :0) I gotta hurry up and make my masterpiece! Right now Ed is in first place automatically!

Your links that you make aren't made from the page where your music is at Rev Joe! Best to access you r song first and then copy the link from there, otherwise that can happen as the "main page" constantly changes.
By the way, there wasn't enough competition in this contest really. I am the only vocal track involved this time around and that just wont do. Tomorrow at midnight is the deadline. Looks like I give myself a sample. Yay! Ed? Just for the record, you pretty much have the Sole Vox from the last division listed in this forum because you made some sort of effort toward getting it. I admire that. Should no one else strive to capture the entire vox, then I am still going to give it all to you bro.
On that note, I feel the need to compete, so I threw a little something something that I started on last night. 3 hours of pleasure and twisty turns and here is a contest instrumental to compete against the three guys! I hope I don't win though....because I don't see anyone coming out with a vocal techno. I forgot they are a far off thing when it comes to this genre. Still this has been fun. Ah yes - it looks as though RevJoe must have uploaded a song, then copy/pasted the link... but then maybe changed the song name or something and resaved it? Because if the maketunes URL no longer exists, then it just displays the Latest Audio Uploads page... which is whats happening for Lighthouse etc

Well, I don't know because I'm not a judge, but as far as vocal performance I won it because I was the only one to sing to a track. Wow! Remind me not to create a vocal electronic division ever again. Now I gotta give myself a sample. Gee! :?) Pretty F N lame. It was a damn good track though. I am happy to add it to my portfolio.

Yeah, but for me it is all very time consuming. I am taking several months break from contest hosting for a breather.
Deadline is up, please do not update any tracks posted and do not post any more song links in the electronic contest forum. Comments are okay though. We officially wait the decision of the judges at this point and may the best track win for each division!

DJ WILLIE AND REV JOE! GUYS! Great job! I am gonna also provide you both with original samples for playing the game and involvement! Just give me more time but don't let me forget either guys. After the hiphop contest is over I will take a break from hosting any contests for a few months and because I am trying out for the MUSIC NATION CHEVY COntest which is at musicnation.com. Remember this techno vocal track I submitted at this contest? WEll, remember how I created an even better Rock Edition version of it? I have lyrics written out already for the TRUST CHEVY song, and instead of rapping am going for the 'elton John' singing variation without Satan taking a dump in hell and hoping to win. $500 prize plus making it onto the cd with major major artists and they will distribute 500,000 copies across the US for sale! Wish me lots and lots of luck guys because I promise to dash a HUGE F N spotlight on Maketunes if I win. Keep doing what you do and don't stop for nothing! Congrats again and goodnight!

Yeah good stuff guys - I'm really pleased to see you all getting into the spirit of things with these comps that Sole initially started up. Whether its starting something new like these competitions etc, helping out as judges, or submitting your new song entries - its great to see (and hear!)

lol we'll be waiting ed haha. Like matt said everybody that posted songs got talent. I didnt hear any songs that sounded bad in this competition, just some better than others. Very cool, did wish the turnout of contestants was higher for this genre though that was a little disapointing.

To increase the number of entires next time round maybe spreading the word beyond maketunes to draw in some more folks interested in song creation competitions might be the way to go too?
Very true guys. The thing is also that I am sure IllusiveMind might have added his own flavor to the competition and Silver Bullet(had he known). Also Plazmatix to name a few. I never got around to telling them personally and/or inviting them. My mistake was having two contests at the same time. There was never supposed to be another hiphop contest directly after the first one. This was because the hiphopsters were coming out of the woodwork on the last one and they were already looking forward to the next one. That is why I threw in the little Sole Vox spin on it to make it different then the 1st one that had JUST happened. From now on I will host one competition at a time and have a temporary delay. I think also like Matt said if we can tell as many people OUTSIDE of maketunes about it and also reach the ones inside that do the genre of whatever contest and build the start day up for about a month and THEN have it that there will be more turn out. I am open for suggestions as well. This would be a good forum to have the talks as well since we are on the subject and still a nice way away from the dreaded PAGE 2! :?) Cheers Men!

Yes DJ MarnDean the next one will happen around April sometime. In the meantime, just find a nice quick techno that you made and slow it down about 40 bpm tempo change and add some of my original vox and you can enter it into HIPHOP contest. The link is at the top left hand corner of every page on maketunes right under NOTICEBOARD. CHeers man!
P.S. Slowing techno down amazingly enough sounds very hip hoppish, as my friend Kane has personally proven to me time and time again over a period of time.

Yeah and halfing the tempo on DnB makes instant hip-hop beats. Almost as instant as quaker oatmeal!

Thats what I was thinking too ed. We should have at least one competition a month and dependiing on the turnout maybe just one per month.
The only issue will be judges then. I offer my services always as a judge, but think that a total of 2 judges would be best. It is too hard for 3 judges to talk things over. Two is easier. Therefore since I don't have to worry about the hosting of contests always, I freely offer my services since I comment anyways on alot of track. PLus I have assistants at the feedback forum to help out from that end. WHat do you guys say? Limit for judges should be two or three?
i think 3 judges is better as 2 can be split a third person can cast the deciding vote
