Followup

My marketing efforts paid off. Support from wedding DJs for my father/daughter slow dance "What A Day" has been stronger than I dared to expect. It's being offered to couples in many parts of the USA, and many of the DJs wrote to tell me they really love the song.

And a local musician (Doctor of Music, college instructor, concert organist, arranger of vocal and instrumental music), on the strength of that one song, wants to collaborate. He's developed an interest in what I do and has told me he'll arrange, perform and produce music for any song I send him. Despite his extensive training and huge talent, he respects my work.

I wrote and recorded "Elegy / Words Unsaid" yesterday and sent it to him last night. It's exciting to know that something I've done will be treated as real music, and I'm anxious to see what he'll do with it.

My rough recording is posted here at the site, and I'll post the finished work here when it's done.

One thing I've learned from all this is that you have to step outside of your artist ego and just keep pushing toward the goal. It's nice that people like what I do, but I'm sure there's an equal number who dislike it. And, the vast majority are indifferent. You can't take it personally.
