What kinda of goals do the MAKETUNES ARTIST"S have?
Where would you like to see yourself with your music...Record deal, own record label, etc.
Maybe this is just a hobby for some.
Maybe you just want recognition.
Just curious to hear from each of you, we never really talk about this aspect of the music, at least I haven't with anyone and I know there is alot of talent in here.
Also I wasn't sure where to post this topic so I just picked PROMOTIONS. seemed fitting

For me....I started off just wanting to be heard!
I've learned so much here that now I'm addicted to this atmosphere!
My goal is to branch out into the commercial world of music, not just in the song writing Music business but Video Gamming, Movie Soundtracks, TV/ Radio Commercials adds ect.
Then; I want to start Recording and doing some serious Producing and searching for of up and comming artist.

Yeah E....X I gotta few trax for serious action scenes and tv show themes myself but how do you get to the right peeps?
Yo Sixx, I think what you need is a publisher to shop your stuff to the film production companies that would want to use it...
I want to get a good collection of songs (music and lyrics) together and shop them to some labels that I think would fit my purposes best... I'd like to release 2 or 3 albums under contract and see if people like my sound and my message.
On the other hand I also plan to get a publisher to pimp out the musical and/or lyrical compositions I write (and don't use myself) to film, commercials/tv, rappers, or bands... To make a little extra royalties, u know? I still love the work.
On the third hand, I want to get some big name traffic through my studio to work with them on their albums as a producer... And make that big producer cash. ;)
Basically I want my name all over the music industry and I really want to make a positive impact on culture and society... Such an impact that will have my great-grandchildren learning about me in their highschool history and music classes. Heh, we'll see...
Yo J CRYS, I don't believe you mentioned what your goals are... Where are you going to take your music... or, where is your music going to take you?

Its hard to get to the right people....I just hit up every Hip Hop Beat Contest that I find and every web site to post some beats on....and if your HOT on thoes venues then people will rember you and hit ya back.
Right now I cant compeat with them high end programs...The sound quality is on point for what people are in demand for. I was under the impression that once a person do a beat then someone else will master it...
With these high end programs and sound libraries, most of these beats I'm hearing, in these contest are all ready mastered comming off the programs and Beat machines such as MPC's and them MV8800.
I gotta step My game UP; If I want to compeat in that market...Ya feel me!
Thanks to everyone here (MakeTunes)...I have many ears, to help me get to that sound quality level!
All I can tell you is.... KEEP HUSTLEN...dont give up...and LEARN as much as you can...then learn some more...lol

Yo EmergeX, if you have some real catchy songs written you can license out the musical composition to artists or their producer/label to re-record with higher quality and use. They'll own the rights to the recording they made based on your composition... But you'll own the rights to the musical composition (the written work as opposed to the recorded work) and you'll recieve payment for everytime that recording is sold or broadcasted because it used your written work.
Songwriters who do business like this typically hook up with a publisher to get their compositions recognized and used.

master beats . when i copy right my beats i do thim all at one time . you dont have to do thim one at a time . its 45$ to do this . all you have to do is download the app from the web site and feel it out , then send it with all the beats you can put on one disc and send it to thim . soon as thay git your beats the copy rights are dun . you will git your copy-rights forms in the mail about 6 months to a year after

Anyway I just received my notification about all the comments and it took me like a week to read all of them. Very good response and I hope each of you acheives there respective goals. I have listened to each of your works and there is alot of talent so I feel EXPOSURE should be your new priorities. It is all about making that one connection. Good luck to each of you

Cool, I just stumbled across my own forum topic and realised I have an update for it. I have accomplished one goal and that is to sign to a breakbeat label. WELL I HAVE done that now with a company and started a sub label through them called "ill-legal breaks records"
I have met several talented singers, and producers to work with through this label. This year should be positive and move in the right direction for me. I am excited.
I will be touring the southeastern U.S. club scene with other AFTERDARK artist as a DJ. From New Orleans to Missouri and from Miami all the way through Virginia. I will keep all updated with pictures and new songs.

NEVER !!!!!!!!! I am not going anywhere and my music is basically being sold on consignment versus me signing a contract which is the traditional way everyone thinks of "being signed to a label"
There is more to it than selling the music. I really wanted a chance to work with some great singers (like Sandra, on our song Beside You)
This is what is great about being affiliated with a label.

Good topic, so here are my goals:
- find a distributor (not a label, I can label myself, haha) for my very own rock music
- have other songs I have written (of different styles) recorded by some major artist
- record, mix and play for anyone else
- move to Las Vegas
- triple my money at the slot machines.......................
... then start all over again........... :-)

Las Vegas might cut anyone a break that way for a while, but sooner or later it'll eat you alive :P
It is a hobby for me. I just enjoy doing it. But if someone likes what I make and wants to buy it..that's OKAY with me. I am actually about to start college to be a veternarian.
