I have confirmation that my song "What A Day" will debut at a wedding reception in New Jersey this weekend. There may be other DJs who plan to use it, but this is the first one to write and tell me.
I just finished an email campaign targeting around 500 DJs in the USA, Canada and the United Kingdom - linking them to my web site and offering them a free mp3 if they want it.
My strategy is to use them to give the song exposure and see where it goes from there.

Nice, congrats Mason :)
Smart moves.....I hope it all works out for you. Good luck.
I've continued my email marketing campaign and now have close to twenty copies of the song in the hands of DJs who say they will at least recommend it to couples getting married.
This is in response to about 800 individual emails sent to DJs who advertise that they work wedding receptions. And I've only covered the states east of the Mississippi so far.
It really is a numbers game. I thought one per cent positive response would be acceptable, but I'm actually doing a little better than that - especially when you consider that many of the recipients may not have even seen the message yet or may not be inclined to answer right away.
I'm also tracking the visit stats for my web site and seeing a lot of action right after I send a block of messages. I typically mail thirty to sixty and then take a break.
There's been only one somewhat negative response. He said the song would be better if done by an actual singer. And he's right. In fact, the end game here is for it to become so popular that an established artist covers it.
