Hey whats happening CodeRed. Welcome to maketunes man.

Ok, I'm sure we'll be able to help you get the initial setup smoothed out. First things first...

What operating system are you using? Windows XP? Vista? other?

You've installed the right drivers for your presonus audio interface?

You've then selected the presonus as your default audio input/output device in your windows control panel?

Those are the first things we need to get double checked to get your presonus working, and consequently your monitors...

Now the other problem - with the microphone only playing back through one monitor. Thats almost certainly because when you recorded your vocal track (using your microphone), its being recorded as a single channel of audio data (eg Left). So when you play it back, naturally you only hearing it out of the single monitor. I don't work with microphones much, but I guess you have 2 options - either convert it into a single MONO audio source (same for both Right/Left channel), or duplicate that existing Left channel into an additional Right channel. So either way, both Left and Right monitors should now play the same vocals. Sorted!

(Other people here who regularly use Microphones may have way better advice on this!!)

Hi Codered,

Chill on the caps lock please, that amounts to shouting. thanks, appreciate it.

Now to try to help. I'm a total noob myself, but strangely enough I too have presonus audiobox usb, use cubase, run on xp, and use m-audio monitors. what are the odds eh? I too started out by trying to get this system running on my laptop, but after some frustration gave up and now have it running nicely on my desktop.

Some reading that I did suggests that on laptops, you may need to disable your wireless networking (if you have that). Apparently it can cause a problem with many audio interfaces.

But even on my desktop sometimes my audiobox just doesn't seem to send any sound to my speakers. My resolution for that now is to shutdown cubase, unplug the audiobox from the usb cable. Reconnect it to the cable, then bring back up cubase. That usually fixes the problem right there :) Of course, getting things set up properly in cubase is a whole nother can of worms, but I'm actually real happy with my cubase/audiobox/m-audio set up now :)

BTW I have a E-MU audiopod with is similar to your setup! Also download the latest drivers from the PRESONUS AUDIOBOX website because most likely it will up date the software for your box!

CODERED's picture

ouch!!re-install window?.i guess ill have to try that one and wats a e-mu audiopod?never heard of that...hey thanx 4 the info i will keep u update..1

It's an Creative E-MU 0404 USB 2.0 It deos pretty much the same thing yours deos!
I recommend any to start with a fresh install of windows for the computer be at it's best when making music because it can be very taxing on the computer!

But like said I haven't had any problems with compatibility since!

to:MATT
well i got home and i tried to switch my SOUND AUDIO DEVICE PROPERTY and TO AUDIOBOX that went pretty smooth but when i tried to use the volume control or switch the speaker setting it was lock.I even tried to play song from my computer and i get nada! and that goes also for FL.7 and cubase le 4..any suggestion?

Yeah once you install the drivers for an audio interface, often the standard WindowsXP control panel options for volume etc become Greyed out - and instead you'll now have a much more detailed audio device control panel for volume etc over in the taskbar usually (bottom right corner of windows). I have that too, for my Delta1010LT, I cannot change the volume via Windows Sound control panel, but instead can go to my M-Audio Control Panel which has an icon in the bottom right corner thats a red circle with a white arrow in it. Double click your equivilent of that and you should see your new control panel.

You'll also want to double check the simple things.... for example.... plug some headphones into your audiobox headphone plug, and play an mp3 to see if the audio is getting that far?

If it is, then we know somethings not right between the audiobox and the monitors...

If even that isn't working, we'll have to figure out why not!
