heres a midi mapping puzzle for you all

ok...heres what i want to do:
-im trying to run ableton live 7 for virtual DJing
-i am running MPD24 and AXIOM25 as my devices for ableton.
-trying to map out the rototary knobs on the axiom and still have the keyboard playing function for synths athat i also have loaded up in ableton. (while im mixing live, i would like to also play some synths and arps to give more of a live feel to what im mixing)

problem im running into is that it seems i cant have a keyboard with knobs be assigned seperatly. when i go into midi settings in abelton, i have to have remote turned on inorder for the knobs to be mapped out. the prob behind that is it also assigns the keys on keyboard to trigger the tracks to start playing. thus not letting me play the keys and be able to turn knobs with any device. i can either use the keys and no knobs or faders. or use the knobs/faders, but then i cant play keys......

anyone have a alternative solution to how i can do this without have to just have a seperate knob/fader controller and also have an external synth/keyboard???
