There have been requests for contests on maketunes here and there and I started one on the feedback forum and picked the judges without talking to them first and needless to say there were only two contestants. IT ended in mishap but thus starts an idea. The creative fluids get flowing and you know what? The goal is reached. Contests = making tunes. Maketunes.com-go figure. THe basis is the incentive. I will give an all original main synth sample to the winner of this contest. This is the first HIP HOP contest on maketunes. Judges cannot submit their own music. Teddy Brazello, DJ Baritone(aka Spank D), and myself are judges. Each Artist is entitled to post 4 song links in this contest forum you can post more then 4 here but be sure to label the 4 chosen as the contest choices. The deadline for submissions is December 22nd! May the best Hip Hop track win! Let the competition begin!

This is my entry for this competition and my first song after a short break from making music

And if I can't be a judge then I'll submit this song for the contest. Its a very hype beat. I recorded some bass with distortion for the hook and cut it to sub levels for the rest of the song. Recorded all the lyrics and mixed it all down. Its got my freind Dattoli on it. Hope ya dig it.

I am glad you guys like the whole competitions idea. We have been tossing the idea around for sometime. The winner of this competition is gonna have much more then a simple sample. I am talking about an all out track done. Complete without a beat that way the artist can add their own flare. The prize is great melody and synths created from Nexus! There will basically be a whole song to grab up and change however way the winner wants to. The winner gets complete rights 100 percent and can do want they want with it. Merry F N Christmas and Harmonica! LOL! I will make it with a beat to play with but if the winner wants the beat as well, that is fine. THe track can be split up into different sections and uploaded separately and all together. The winner does what they want with it. All will be 100 percent sample free. JNUTT(Jnizzy) was wanting to put vox to your first submission. He is really feeling that song you made bro. I kid you not, he was here yesterday and when I played the 'competition' to him, he started spontaneously rapping to your beat and it was sounding tight as hell. I was like.... DAMN!

Step it up peeps and represent! THis competition is gonna beat hot. Let me spice up the prize a little. I offer two alternative prizes to go alongside the original prize prior posted. Winner can chose between original musical melody works or instead I will vocalize a song at the artists request(with all rights going to the artist who wins), or I will give a slew of different vox samples in which to use in songs. The vox samples are whatever the artist wants me to say, and I will give three versions of each vox sample. Vox samples not to exceed 25 phrases. Ya dig? DECEMBER 8th was when Teddy agreed to be a judge. So the deadline for submissions gents is the 22nd. The judges will discuss the submissions and the winner will be announced on Christmas!
Just a reminder that each artist can only submit a total of 4 submissions so make them count. Also be aware that collaborations are allowable, as are sound samples.

Just be aware MB that should the works linked to this competition have been created before the hiphop contest announcement on my feedback forum that it will not be able to enter the competition. Thanks Criminal. I think you were reading my mind bro. I just started my attempt at hiphop last night, and was even able to throw in some transylvania organ riff which is pretty popular. In these competitions I am going to 'discover' new and unheard artists per said genre. I say this because we don't really know him. Check out CHINO. Do a search and check his music out. BY the way, I will announce the next genre for the next contest on Thursday this week! I am going to be in the contest and I will need at the very least 2 judges to step forward for it, because I wanna be in it. If I win then I don't get nothing unless one of the judges wants to offer something. Sounds weird but it works. I just want to compete a little and get in on the action. You can guess what type of genre it will be. I have done a bunch of different genres so don't even think you know what genre I am gonna choose. Heheh(wow! this is quite fun)

HARD DANCE/DNB/INDUSTRIAL
You might have noticed that there are 3 different genres involved. JNUTT was partially right in guessing techno. But there will be no light hearted trance/euphomoric la de da tracks allowed in the next competition. It has to be HARD, it has to pack a punch, and carry a heavy beat. For those not involved with this competition, or involved with this competition, GET BUSY! Just don't upload it to maketunes until January 1st 2008 or it wont count! THe competition forum will be up then and then you can post your links.
P.S. I am gonna compete in this next competition and I plan on bringing the heat myself. Then I don't have to give anything away. LOL! Someone might wanna tell the fellow artists on maketunes that are into this type of genre about this as well. I know PLazmatix and Silver Bullet both are into this type of music and a slew of other artists. If you haven't done it yet, give it a try! Just find that harsh sound and let 'er rip. Cool I will check it all out. By the way ... KANE will be submitting a few hiphop tracks into this competition in a few days boys via me. He has done previous collaborations with me if you recall or recollect and if not then just know that he and JNUTT are always competing. He asked me what JNUTT submitted and I told him "Grateful" and he aint even worried. Sounds like the heat aint done being brought! Peace out and this is just great great fun guys!

I will start the contest forum on New YEars day and then you guys get to take over it. Teddy will fill you in on the method of judging madness and you guys can email eachother to discuss the tracks. Right on man. YOu guys will run it all and decide. I will give you some guidelines to go along with and to base it off of. But in the end you are looking for the truth. As in this competition, "Is it catchy?" "Is it radio ready?" "What sounds the best?". I recently critiqued OUrstage.com. They didn't listen to the music but rather looked at the artist. "Who are they?" -should never EVER be a decision maker. Which is why I am in the next one as well. The music must speak the voice of reckoning. Just for the record, the first 20 something songs that I heard and Teddy heard we were on the EXACT same beliefs about. He has an excellent ear for music not because he thinks like I do but because he knows what to listen for. I believe both you JNUTT and you CAPricorn One, also share this same truth. I am very very happy that you guys stepped forward. Let the competitions begin the New Year and let's get Maketunes become a force to be reckoned with. Truth and a good ear. Not credentials. Rock on!

Same here. By the way, I want to announce that there will be TWO winners for the hiphop competition. A vocals track winner and an instrument/samples/nosamples track winner! I think this is the most fair approach to this competition business. I will not offer 2 vocal collaborations as a result of this new decision though. Bottom line is the best of the best gets first pick and the 2nd winner gets to choose from the remaining amount. There is also a sound font that is going out to all the contestants once this is all said and done, which is my way of saying thank you for your participation in this competition! The way this will work is all the people who don't win will have to email me and I send them the soundfont with a reply email. In this way I can ensure that no outsiders to the competition receive the soundfont because they weren't participants. Merry Christmas!
P.S. Do not email me until it is decided who the winners are. The winners will NOT receive the sound font. The 2 winners will be announced on Christmas Day!

It's all good bro. Hey I have been meaning to talk with you about our next SOAP song. I kinda placed a beat I made to it and this WHOLE time cannot find it in FL to remove that and let you do your own style to it. I think the best thing is to send the track to you and some of the vox I have and let you fool around with the vox and tweak it bro!
