Interfaces External vs Internal

Sup everyone? I been enjoying the input from the forum users. You guys are great!

I have been reading the forms trying to do some research and hear feedback on interfaces. I have not heard the answer to my particular issue, so hear goes.

I would like to know weather to go internal or external with the interface. I have an analogue PV8 mixer already that I could hook up to an Audiophile 192, if I bought one. I have an MPD 24 (still can't figure the easiest way to use the darn thing), and an MXL condenser mic.

Expansion in the future will most likely include a Keyboard/MIDI controller or Synth, monitors, and possibly some hardware such as a compressor, turntables or even a full MPC (for the sounds).

Based off that information, I would like to know my best option in terms of cost. What is a good interface that I could get between $200-300 in terms of performance and features. I would like to have room to expand and at least 2 mic-in and headphone-ins. Naming a few of the top runners would be nice.

Also is it still possible to by an interface and run my mixer through it for added expansion?

Now that I think about it, I would really like to try and get an interface for about 200 or right around that area, give or take a few.
