which is roughly 200 megabytes worth of samples to choose from, and make the most CATCHIEST techno track of all to win. Winner receives a collaboration opportunity with me or a song copyright free, or the link to the ultimate audio hookup, winner's choice. Contest ends Christmas Day. You must make something in the electronica department. This can include anything within the multiple electronic audio genres. Post your song link at this forum and it has to include the samples used from whichever pack(you actually have to list them-and I have downloaded them all and will know). You MUST also list the 5 samples used and from which pack, in your song introduction, so as to prove you used 5 samples (I will check). Other samples are allowable, as long as you, the creator, make the biggest portion yourself. Anyway, list the samples used at your song post (you don't have to list them at this forum). Vocal productions or instrumental productions are both welcome. There is no song upload limit in this contest. This is a contest to show support for the current sponsor of maketunes. If you aren't satisfied with the prize, then you are a greedy -eff and don't need to participate anyway because you just don't get it. This contest is to promote the sponsor of maketunes and to promote inspirational personal growth. Get it? Get creating! Good luck to all you producers out there! No previous submissions, and any instigators toward anything hateful or condescending, will immediately be discluded in the running. (sigh) Can we get an electronic comp that DOESN'T require the use of loops? I've never been able to produce a quality electronic track with the loops provided in any comp... I'll give you this one Sole... Those look like decent loops, (specially those minimal ones) and I could probably work with a few of them.... but not 5. Oh I'm still gonna try... Trust me, you, I'm gonna try.

BUT... One of these days, could someone host a freeform electronic contest? No loops necessary. For me? Please? Please, please, please, please, pretty please, with sugar on top?!? I'll be your best friend!! :D

I rescind my previous statement... them packs come with drum hits... and sfx hits, so it'll be super easy to comply. Plus, a lot of the loops are nice and simple and ripe for fucking with, using my new toys from Camel Audio. ;D

About these loops......they can be manipulated any kind of way and still count as being used, right? For instance, I have taken one of the vocal loops, shortened it to a couple of syllables, and ran it through about five processors. It sounds like a synth, but is a loop in this package. Does it count?
Very excited about this comp. Last years was seriously fun and I heard some great f'n tunes out of everyone who entered.

To my mind electronic genre encompasses the wide range of sub-genres, from chillout, tance, house, techno etc.

As a tip here's some of the genres that the LoopMasters sample CDs are listed under:
Electronica, Techno, Breaks, Downtempo, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Grime, Garage, Deep, Minimal, Tech, Electro. Funky, Glitch, Progressive House/Trance.

For those of you who use Fl studio, I thought of a cool trick you can do with these rar files to make things easier. You may or may not have allready thought of this but I figured I'd share it any way. After you download and save the files you want go to the folder, select all of them then extract them to program files/ Fl8 or 9(which ever you use)/data/Patches/Sliced Beats. That way when you start the prodject all you have to do is go down to the sliced beats section of your browser and they'll all be sitting there waiting for you to drag job,slice, use, abuse and have your way with. I wanted to share this becuase it never occured to me until now that I could do it that way. I'm glad it occured to me otherwise I would have downloaded them,started a new prodject,opened edison, then start uploading each damn loop one at a time, giving up after three or four like I've done every other time we had a contest like this

Hey GrandScam,

Let's say you extract your samples to C:\Samples\Loopmasters

You can go to Options > File Settings > Select C:\Samples

Then 'Samples' will show up in your browser, click it and the loopmasters folder will be available with all the samples at your fingertips.

Thank you for your feedback. ever using the file settings is an extra step opssed to just extracting it to one place and it's all ready there your extracting it, opening your prodject, then adding a path to the settings.

yeah I actually always put all samples in organized folders within my PACKS folder. I never tried to import them differently like that though. Good advice

Toolbox, use the hits and FX. they're just drum hits and FX hits... They could be mixed into your DnB drums. Or... chop a loop up. A lot of the minimal stuff could be chopped to be used in DnB, because they're real simple and you can almost use the the individual notes.

Here's my entry all the loops except one are from the contest. The other one is Michael Cosma from Tapegerm.com which is another site like MakeTunes, except the focus is bedroom producers and there's a lot of free loops, CRAZY amounts. Posting there requires you use one loop, so I did. Partially responsible for the title.

For the loops I used so I list at least five that are easy to find, I used all three musical loops that are in the Celtic-Sufi set. I used the synth wobble bass from Zed Bias and the ManganeseGroove drum beat from the same loop set.

Okay the contest is over and I was a little disappointed to see some submissions where it was not listed the samples used. With no list the song was automatically disqualified. Fars Inc your submissions are just gone and you woulda been up there with the top ones if you had kept your submissions up through to the end of the contest. Everyone please read the introductions carefully when wanting to involve yourself in the contest. People ask the deadline sometimes and that is listed as well.
Now that I am done reprimanding I was happy to see the entries involved with the contest but wasn't happy to see the amount of small submissions. The next electronic contest I host(which will be in half a year from now or so) will be about making the catchiest track of anyone, without any clause of anykind. Do anything you want to do but make it yourself and may the best track win. Complete freedom.
To sum things up there was a few top choices from Illusivemind and from myself. Of the ones we agreed upon it was decided amongst those the best and most pleasurable. The top nominees are as follows and in no particular order:
