MPC 1000 or MPC 2000?

Hi, I keep hearing people comparing the MPC 1000 to the MPC 2000, and I don't know which one is best?

Can anyone explain the differences between the MPC range a little more clearly?

Theres a great run down of the features of all of the AKAI MPC range on the MPC page on wikipedia

And I also found a MPC comparison chart (PDF file)
(Right-click and Save As)

I've heard some people who've had experience with both the MPC1000 and the MPC2000XL say that they felt the MPC2000XL (and higher models) were more aimed at studio use, while the compact MPC1000 was more at home in a live performance/touring/travelling environment, but I'm not sure whether others would agree with this or not?
