Hi Cozmikz - sounds like soundcard latency to me. Have you used any midi keyboards/controllers without that delay on your computer before?
What sort of soundcard do you have? Are you using ASIO audio drivers?
Also you might want to check under the preferences/options of your music software, and you'll probably see your latency listed as something like 130ms... once you're running a soundcard that supports ASIO mode, you'll be running a latency of something around 6ms... which is basically instant.
ye i am using ASIO audio drivers. so where could i edit that in cubase Le?
ok well i found to things listen in ms format, Record catch range in ms and View meter peak's hold time. if yyou know which one it would be let me know
Hmmm I don't think the latency is either of those 2 things you mentioned (either record catch range, or view meter peak hold time).
Ok so you're using ASIO soundcard drivers, which should mean low latency...
One thing to double check in Cubase (if thats what you're mainly using) is that your ASIO drivers are selected. Sometimes people accidentally have the Windows Default software sound mapper or whatever its called selected, despite having the OPTION of selecting ASIO device for increased performance.
I forget how exactly the Cubase settings panel looks, but it should be listed under something like Options/Preferences > Audio Settings? Probably a dropdown selection box, with options like "M-Audio Delta ASIO", "Microsoft sound mapper", "Windows Classic Wave Driver"... double check that ASIO device is selected.
ye those are selected right... do you think oit could be a setting on the mpd itself, like aftertouch or something?
Ok cool. Thats a bit of a mystery to me then... I haven't heard of that happening for the mpd24, other than soundcard latency issues. I can't think of any particular settings on the mpd24 that I've dealt with which might cause that delay effect you describe...
Have you used other midi keyboards etc no problems on that machine?
Also, do you have any other software you could try out the mpd24 with, to test whether its related to cubase?
