My mpd 24 and reason

i am fairly new at production. I learned from my buddy who makes beats for me to rhyme over.
as it stands right ow. i have an mpd 24 and reason(pc)....but i dont know what else i need(audio interface,pre amp, etc) like i said my set is pretty bare as of right now. can anyone help or suggest a route to take.....thANks

Hi welcome to MakeTunes stew, what soundcard/interface are you running at the moment? Its important when using any MIDI controller that your latency is low (around 10ms rather than 100+ ms). Otherwise there will be a noticeable delay between hitting the pads and hearing the sounds.

I wouldn't worry about preamps and stuff yet, just get the MPD working well with Reason and a decent audio interface (even something like the Audiophile 2496 for $100 will give you low latency and high audio quality).

If you're wanting to do a bunch of vocal recording too then you'll need to look at preamps - some audio interfaces have reasonable preamps built in as well.
