Need help for a m-audio trigger finger.

Hi all,

I just got a TF and i'm using it with Reason 3.
I'm also using a m-audio keystation midi controller keyboard which works great.

Ive got both to work at the same time, the problem is that the TF stops working suddenly leaving the keyboard
on a stand alone. I have to reconnect the TF a few times in order for Reason to read it again before it crashes yet again.

Ive also downloaded the latest drivers and still havin the same problem.

Any ideas as to why this happen and what can i do to solve it.

Any help would be very much appreaciated. cheers! - tanki

How's stuff connected up..? Both using USB or MIDI-IN/.OUT..? And how are you using them with Reason..? Through the hardware interface on different channels or through Reason's own MIDI keyboard/surface mapping...?

Does Trigger Finger stop working while you're using it? Or only when you've walked away from the computer for a while, for example?

Also is it stopping responding always at the same time, or does the time it continues to work seem to vary greatly?

Also, once the TF has stopped working, when you go to your Reason MIDI devices preferences, is it still listed there with a green tick?

Hi all,

Many thanks.

Both are connected using USB.

The Trigger Finger stops working when im using actually using it at the same time.
Upon this note, it's hard to get it working in the first place with reconnecting the USB.

When the TF stops working, under preferences, the green tick is still on. But when i disconnect and reconnect it, it responds well with the green tick, but it just cant seem to work.

I'm using windows XP Home edition service pack 2.

Ive also tested both midi controllers on a mac and the keystation is working except the TF.

Does this sounds like the problem is the TF itself? If so, maybe i should contact the store and get it repaired
bcos this is 2nd hand.

Thanks! - tanki

Hard to say without more info, could be a MIDI channel/config problem or a driver issue (Reason MIDI mapping and/or M-Audio MIDI driver)
As an example, if I use my M-Audio Axiom in Reason through the control surfaces set-up, making Reason reprogram it to allow switching from device to device and forget to un-check the "Use with Reason" check-box before closing down Reason, there's a background process that makes my whole system stall until I switch the Axiom off.
After doing so, there's no way to get the Axiom recognised again on the USB bus without having to reboot my machine first. However, when using it as a generic MIDI controller with custom presets going through the Reason hardware interface using different channels instead to control different Reason devices everything's fine.
What happens if you uncheck the "Use with Reason" checkbox for either one and use an existing or newly made preset on the device to control some Reason device through the hardware interface instead...? Do you still get the same problem..?
