Hello Guest - Oldschool Hip Hop Contest

Welcome to another Hip Hop contest!
This one differs a bit from the previous ones.
Rules
- You recieve a sample package with 4 jazz/blues/soul samples. It can be downloaded here:

- For your song you have to use one sample (or more) from the package. You may spice it with whatever you want: Vst's, Effects, your own samples,...
- Each participant may enter only one song in the competition. Also collaborants may enter only one song, if they win, they will both recieve the prize.
- The competition is an instrumental competition. Whoever uploads his vocaled version of the song before the end of the contest cannot participate.
Judges
I won't participate in the contest so I will be judge #1. If you want to be a judge, mail me through the contact form! The winner will not be chosen if there are less than 3 judges (in total).

Sole is judge #4
The Prize
The winner(s) will recieve 368 Acoustic/Hip Hop drumsounds from my personal collection. (I just reorganized all my sounds)
Deadline
is the 10th of April. Until then you have to have posted your link in this forum.
The winners will be announced a few days later ;)

For all particapating. If you cut the left from the right youll be able to split the voice samples from the music on the first two wave files.

i dont think its enough samples
Oh I dunno, personally I thought it was an good amount of samples - gives you several choices of what angle to take, but few enough that theres bound to be a wide range of results due to people having to add their own stuff to it.
Bear in mind you can separate the vocal samples by splitting a couple of the samples, so theres 2 separate vocal samples, several chunks of different bluesy/jazzy samples, crowd sample, and so on...
But hey, each to their own :) I found it just right, but some people might prefer more I guess.

Honestly pitbull I would want to be one. I aint gonna lie I did feel that i slacked hard core on this contest. I personally didnt feel that i put enough effort into my entry & i wouldnt mind dropping my entry & being a Judge! But you let me know.

I thought 1 April was the deadline? Was it extended? Perhaps I'll do some work this weekend and enter. I'm fairly new to all of this recording stuff, but I think it will be fun to just do it anyway. So I'll post up my entry in a couple of days, I gotta get my sample that I was to use to accompany all the others.
Hey Midnight - nope the deadline for this comp was always the 10th April. You might be thinking of the Electronic music comp, whose deadline was extended from 1st April to 1st May.

LOL, I wanna say I used panasonic but Idunno. I wasn't making any of my own music back then, just dubbing all types of music on different casettes, from the radio, my tapes, cds...

WOO! I am caught up. Tell me if I hadn't heard your track and or commented and we will work something out thanks. Lots of great music guys. I would have to say that everyone seemed to capture old school hiphop one way or the other, though some of the tracks sounded even older school then others, we need to ask ourselves what is old school don't we? Anything back in time a ways is very vague and offers many time lines. Old skool was captured HERE son! Respect to all playas!

Well done everybody! All the entries were very very good, Congrat's CapricornOne. Massive props to Pitbull. Lets not forget the rest of the panel of Judges, I can imagine it being quite a job deciding who should be the winner amongst all the great entries. They're all winners in my book.

That was an awesome contest !!! I went and listened to the entries again and DANG !!! CLOSE!!!! I was feeling alot of the tracks. I enjoyed Matts the most but felt cap and criminals were put together the best, great job guys !! Glad I didn't enter this one, you guys are in a class of your own.
awesome job guys....was really a tough one to decide....ok who's throwing vox on these tracks or is that another contest pitbull ?
There were alot of great tracks in this contest and if ALL the artists had abided by the rules there would have been even more heat. There were several disqualifications(whether unbeknownst to the artists themselves) and a track was admitted to not having the samples in it. There were actually several disqualifications though in truth and I am not saying names but I would like to say and encourage EVERY SINGLE artist out there to read the contest rules carefully. Otherwise a great track, a great AWESOME track, is nothing more then just that, and eliminated due to technicalities. Please! It is all in good fun though guys and is cool because multiple people join of the same mind of something that grabs the current attention. That, my friends, is priceless!

Nice competition. Wish I would've came up with somethin nice to contend with. Sadly I never liked or was that good at working with samples.
Oh... for the record guys ... I have had several ideas for contest and one of those I wanna throw out there now.... I am going to host a SCARY MUSIC Contest around Halloween time this year. Just slow shit down and it gets scary fast! Should be lots of fun!

Great beats all around in this comp!! Old School was a great idea, I learned a lot about sampling while making mine too.
