Hi
Can anyone help. I'm recording at home with a lap top (windows XP), Cubase SX and a Tascam US224 Audio Interface. The problem I have is that when attempting to record 1 track whilst playing other tracks through the headphones, all the other playing tracks get recorded into the new track file.
This is worse when the headphone level is turned up although I know it's not the microphone picking up the sound from the headphones as I can take the microphone to the other side of the room (away from the headphones) and the problem persists.
I thought maybe it is the tascam us224 outputing the headphone signal into the input line.
Has anyone any ideas? I though maybe of attempting to maintain the Tascam as an input and change the output to the PC Soundcard and just plug some headphones into the lap top but can't seem to work out how to do this.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks
Jason

the problem is obviously your input bus. You have to check you mixer out to the recording input. If the problem still persisits you have to check the soundcard settings
Hi Jason, hmmm I am surprised to hear that the audio output is bleeding into the audio input via something like the tascam... but from what you describe, it certainly sounds that way.
If you're wanting to try testing running the audio-out via your internal soundcard, you can just go to othe XP control panel, and if you're running "Classic View", select "Sounds and Audio Devices". Then select the "Audio" tab, and select your internal soundcard from the "Sound Playback" dropdown menu.
If you're using the newer XP "Category View" (the blue background XP control panel screen), just select "Sound Speech and Audio Devices", and then click "Sounds and Audio Devices", and once again select the "Audio" tab, and choose your computers internal soundcard from the "Sound Playback" dropdown menu.
Naturally your PC soundcard will only be available if you have the drivers installed for it, and it is still operational. (Which should be the case if its what you used prior to upgrading to the tascam).
Hope that helps.
Hi Thanks for getting back to me. Sanjeevbabu could you explain some more what I need to do? The tascam just goes straight into the lap top via USB connection.
Matt, It does seem strange why this is happening. I thought at first the microphone was just picking up the sound from the headphones but as I said i have tested this and it's not the case. I have set my audio out to the internal soundcard via 'sound playback' but the trouble I have found is that in Cubase SX it appears that the Asio Multimedia driver only allows you to select one source for Input and Output, whether that be the internal sound card or the Tascam. So I can't for example have Tascam = In, Internal Soundcard = Out. Not sure if there's something i'm missing.
This is all very annoying!
