Reloading factory presets onto MPD24 with Uniquest

This question comes up quite often - how do you reload the factory presets back onto the MPD24 with Uniquest?

This can be needed if you've accidentally wiped the factory presets, and can't select any of the default presets which should include BFD Lite, Reason, GuruPads, GuruPtns, Live, Stylus, Battery, ArkaosVJ, GM Drums, GM Chrom, Cubase LE, MPC 2500.

I think this is how to reload the factory presets if you're using Uniquest software:

1. Plug in your MPD24 via USB
2. Start up Uniquest
3. Click File > Open
4. Go into the MPD24 directory, and open the preset file called Factory Bank.Bnk.
5. Click the PUT button which should send the factory preset Banks to the MPD24.

Let me know if you have any difficulties

Once the reloading is complete, have you tried unplugging the mpd24, and plugging it back in? I've seen that work to "refresh" the preset names after a reload...

You are using Uniquest? Not Vyzex? Factoryset.SQS is only to be used with Vyzex software (which is the newer software that Akai now supply instead of Uniquest).

Maybe you accidentally overwrote the original factory defaults file when trying exporting them?

If you want to try using Vyzex, here is how to do it...

in fact i had the file .BNK, but as it didn't worked, i tried it with uniquest and i could open it`; no results too

before reading your thread, i've installed vyzex and it works a lot better with leopard

i don't have problems anymore, thanks a lot for all your answers and keep up the good job with your site!

peace
