remixing video

I know this is probly not the place to find my answer but if not please let me know where to post.(I'm a neebe to site).
Question:
I'm using cubase program to record on pc,I have a video that was done of are band but the sound is not that great and I would like to re-mix it .
problem:
once I contract the sound file from video I'm able to turn it into mp3 ,wav ect. but I'm not able to put it back into video and I know the sound should be saved as mpeg.
Is there a video program(hopefully free) that can do this ?.I
have a couple other programs that extract the sound but none that put it back into the video

Yup Cubase etc are music only programs.

There are a few free video editors/remixers around...

One common program which you might already have on your PC with Windows XP (SP2) is Microsoft Movie Maker. Apparently its pretty basic, but does have all the basic features - might suit what you're wanting to do?

Another one I read about is the Avid Free DV program, which they stopped offering from their official website, but which is still downloable online according to that forum post.

There are also beginning to be online video editors made available...
