Sampling Jazz

I'm looking for some artists to sample off of. I've been to vinyl stores and just picked up a bunch of old records, but their too up-beat and bright. I'm looking for darker jazz, not so happy kinda stuff. some stuff like madlib??

any recommendations?

Check out http://www.musicovery.com you might get some artist ideas from there.

Click On Jazz, and then in the Dark & Calm quadrant.
