Sci-fi RPG Video Game Music - Want to contribute?

I just wanted to extend an invitation to some of my long-time Maketunes freinds to contribute to a little project my freind is cooking up. We'd like to know if anyone here would like to participate in making some music for a video game we're putting together. I am doing msot of the music but I think we could get some good variety from others helping. This is a non-profit project, just working on it in our spare time. Its a sci-fi game Action/RPG (like zelda) set in the future of a post-apocolyptic earth. There's a lot more too it but that should help you get an idea of the music we'd need.

We're using very industrial yet ambient sounding tunes. Musical inspiration is Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Industrial Monk, Hum, Descent II soundtrack (good luck finding it), Radiohead, Ghost In the Shell Soundtrack, AI (movie) soundtrack by John Williams, Unbreakable Soundtrack, and for battle music, Coheed and Cambria, At The Drive-In, Metroid Prime/Megaman soundtracks. These are some of the sounds we like and will be trying to imitate.

If you want to make an instrumental song to contribute to our little project, i'd love to have it. I cant promise you much more than your name in the credits at this point. But we are serious about making the game. And the music is part of the inspiration. We either need mysterious atmospheric slow songs for the exploring parts of the game or heavier music for the battles.

Email me if you're interested.

This sounds intriguing Jesse! I might be up for a go at something if I get a chance, and I'll be really keen to see what others come up with, as I'm sure some might like to contribute some tunes too.

Keep us posted about the game etc here too

Abeyant, thats TOTALLY what we're going for!! Perfect! I'd love to use that one if you dont mind. If you want to submit a song you can email me it in a high quality mp3 to jratterree@sbcglobal.net. Like I said I cant garuntee we'll use it but we will need a lot of music so i think theres a good chance we'll include almost everything anyone submits somewhere.

There is no deadline for this project right now. We are in the early stages of development, getting the art together and stuff. Once that is done it will progress quite fast. I have to say what I've heard so far is awesome! Just what I'm looking for and it blows away most of what I was writing!

The songs should be well mixed and able to be loops, meaning the last notes should lead back into the first if you had it on repeat. The music should not be 'too' busy since there will be sound effects playing over top of it, but this doesnt mean there cant be solos and stuff, especially for the non-battle/explorer type tunes.

The battles are real-time like Legend of Zelda, its an overhead view game. The graphics are comparable to Secret of Mana or Legend of Zelda on the Super Nintendo, although we do have a bit higher level of graphic freedom.

Thats pretty sweet Decktime - you should see if you can get some contacts in the industry regarding game music, through his involvement with these companies :)

TheAbeyant's picture

yeah i prolly could Matt, he made the entire game by himself which is crazy if u actually see it in action! He and my other roommate made all the music for the game too!

Heres a link for one of the vids -
