sequencing the roland mc303 via reason or cubase sx3?

i finally got my mc303 fixed after a year out of commission! now i'm looking to get back into it, but i was wondering if any of you guys have any tips on how to use reason or cubase sx3 as an external sequencer? i'm familiar with the basic midi connections and how to set the 303 as a sound module...but i'm sorta clueless on how to use it along with a software sequencer...

any help would be great!
