Sole is taking a break!

I am taking time off. I have been involved in at least 100 songs since October 26! Needless to say I am a little worn for the wear. My family needs me more then maketunes, and (no offense to anyone) my family is much much more important. I will still be fooling around with Fruity Loops and trying things out, but I will NOT record my voice during this break time, I will not collaborate except if promised prior that I would. I may(probably will) forget about the collaboration agreement and you and I will have already made so contact me to remind me. If you have corresponded with me in the past then you have my email, if not then use the contact system Matt(God bless him) has instituted here. I will correspond with anyone via email, and if you post a musical listening request on my forum "Want Feedback" then I will listen and comment on it. But I will not upload anything new and current during my off time. I still have about 8-10 more songs to upload from when I was 12 years old though so be looking out for those downloables. If my fulltime job was making music (and I was getting paid) then I could still do it, as the music is still in me trying to come out. But I do not get paid to do what I do and am a fulltime employee with Sitel. I am a fulltime husband to my wife Sonya(have you heard her song I made for her yet?) and a fulltime daddy. Music has made my yard go to hell, cause arguments over what is more important, and strife. Yet I persisted. IT is (I still believe) what I was brought to the world to do. I just need a break. I need to stop and appreciate the things in my life that have more meaning before I lose them. Forgive me or not, until you have done as much as I have in one year, then I DON'T WANNA HEAR any complaints. I believe that Maketunes.com is the best site on the internet today, toward help getting started and the inspiration which comes from the active members. I am sickened by people who don't involve themselves enough(yes, this is all you little people out there-too afraid of your own shadow to come out), and sickened by the lack from the big wigs in the music industry to come out of their asses and discover all the talent on this site. I am sickened by rate music sites that are impossible to maintain accurate and proper judgement rating systems! I am sickened to death of those sites that want money to give the musician the opportunity for a big wig to hear the musician's song. I am sick to death of record labels continuing to stay in their closed little circles and not look outside themselves for true talent and ability. I am ranting because now is the time to get it off my chest. I am sick to death of "the way things are done" and in todays day and age, they need to look at more then their little standard route of doing it. Whatever happened to getting discovered without the artist doing anything more then doing their own gig? Why is it that money spent is what bends the ears of the record label. If I had money to spend to be listened to, then I wouldn't need them now would I?
Screw them and I can make my own legacy. I might not make the big bucks or get the contract(I haven't tried to pursue any of this) or be famous. But I will make my mark, which in the end is what everyone hopes for. When I die I wanna be remembered for what I did and not who I knew along the way to get to the top! I am a true singer, and a true writer. I am a TRUE collaborator. I am a producer of music made entirely from computer. This isn't by choice, but as a result of what I already have in my possession. I cannot afford any instruments. I cannot afford any cool mics. I can barely afford to pay my bills. I cannot afford to lose my family. I cannot afford to lose what I have because it is all that I have. I want more! yes, so much more. But I cannot afford it. I need this break. Please understand. Peace out for a little while! -Sole

I understand you taking off for a bit... But "little people"? That, I do not understand, why are you so angry? You've accommplished your 100 song goal, and now all the sudden your bigger than the rest and talking down to the rest? I'm sorry, I don't like the way you addressed us all just then. 100 songs is quite an accomplishment, but only 4 hit songs would have done so much more for you, or any artist. I don't claim to have any hit songs, I'm just saying...

Amittai? You are a big fish in our maketunes pond. All those that are involved are big fish. The little fish are the musicians who join who aren't trying. If you are offended by my words don't be. I hate people who sit on the sidelines and aren't doing anything. E.G. The big wigs and the people who don't comment and don't create(even if a person isn't a musician they can at least comment - but don't. It is an old issue) The statement about the little fish is not geared toward you or any of the other people I have talked with- at all. I swear by the life of my mother and father and my own life. Peace brother. Peace! The 100 songs statement was not meant to be bragadothia, but rather as the reason I need the break. I do need this break, so don't take offense. It is all good Amittai, and I feel you are big fish. Big as in sperm whale big(the biggest of them all). Are we cool?

Thank you E-GOLDS! I need this.
Actually I am going to be creating a special song for Kaleb Schwade, who is an infant that is victim to Shaken Baby's Syndrome and fighting for his life. I am calling it Kaleb's Song and am going to put everything I have into it and send it to his parents who are going through a real trying time.

Personally, I believe that quality is subjective. A song is not so good only if the creator believes so, otherwise it is a matter of taste.

By writting music the important thing is not that it makes someone musician but true to himself. I believe quality in music comes through this feeling.

To conclude, at some point everyone needs a break which is healthy. After all it is not so bad just to hear other people songs for as long as it takes

By the way i have never commented on your songs but most of them i have downloaded.

Hey Sole, enjoy your break you deserve it you maketunes maniac! Family comes first.

Channel that fiery inspiration and creativity of yours into something else for a while and see what grows.

NKOLY, I agree with you wholy... But I didn't say anything about quality on this thread... I said hit. As we all know, not all hits are quality songs.

Ah, I appreciate all your interests about my absence, and feel I need to reitinerate myself, and justify myself for what I wrote initially in this forum.
I think it it awesome that songs get downloaded without being listened to. To the downloaders of maketunes - thank you from the bottom of my heart! Listen to all the tunes whether mine or anyone else's on this site and enjoy the creativity. I cannot possibly know who you are, unless I am pyschic, which I am not. The more downloads an artist gets the more better the artist feels about themselves because they feel that someone else besides themselves felt the song was good enough to have forever and spent the time and internet speed and resources of their own computer to cherish the music even when they aren't online. I hope everyone here gets a gazillion songs of theirs downloaded. I hope that those individuals share the music with their friends. In that regard, regardless(mind the pun) of the quality - the song was a hit. But quality is what goes on that cd, am I right? Quality is what the big wigs look for. Perfection. My rendition of "Knockin on Heaven's door" was terrible terrible quality. I was drunk, and there is the steady hum/whine in the background. There are 194 downloads right now for it. So for the purposes of maketunes, but not something good enough to send to a record label, due to lack of quality, it was a hit. But a hit to who? Anyone who comes here.
Is quality of a fruity loop song, or logic song, or reason song or any of those other programs going to get that record label from A&R? Assumedly, probably not. Why? Because you can't do it live. Maybe a little of it live but not much. You gotta be ready for that tour, gotta perform in front of people and do those gigs. You can sell your musical creations on a gazillion sites and get rich if you are in fact an authentic owner of the software you use and every vst, and have researched the owner/manufacturer of said program for the rights to anything created with their software. Otherwise you are in violation of usage and copyright infringement. A sample made needs to be approved by the parties that created the loops or samples before you could fall victim of a lawsuit. This has brought me to reflection as to what I am most talented at. Is it lyrics? No. Is it the quality? Hell no! I suck at mastering. I am a singer and transposer and collaborator. These are my true strengths. The rest of my weaknesses will always be weaknesses because I have strengths. We are all better at certain things then others.
At all other sites, I am a little fish. I am what I abhor on those sites. I have some songs uploaded yes. But not much. I have done very very little since starting to make music on all the other sites except here. That is needing to change if I hope to make it in the musical universe. I hate the big wigs because they do not scout enough. I hate them because there is a process and they make you really work for it. I am going to concentrate on my strengths except collaborating. It has been really fun doing it, because it was a challenge. But I am not going to get rich off collaborations until/unless I was famous. People will appreciate it, sure(especially the original artist), but it wont become my bread and butter when trying to strike that 'deal' with a label. I am going to concentrate on transposing and singing as a result. I have recently read(thanks to my wife's awesome help at finding all the suggestions from people who we think of as big wigs, to not kid ourselves and not have a big head. We need to be critiqued and informed of what we are lacking. We need to discover what our strengths are versus the weaknesses and go after the strengths.
Back to me being a little fish out there in the really big world of hundreds of other sites and being nonexistant to the big wigs. I would hate 'me' if I was actively involved at another site and I saw 'me' drop some songs and leave and not give two craps about giving the energy toward the site.
However, I am here right? I am not a little fish on maketunes. I am popular and have tons of friends because of the active involvement.
The little fish out there use our site to upload their songs and they upload to a thousand others. They never ever comment on anyone but themselves and how great they are. If a comment is left with them(the little fish) from a active user(big fish) from our end, there is no response from that little fish artist. They aren't true maketuners because this site is just a dumping ground to further promote their own interests, with a complete lack of interest or care for another individual artist who could be inspired should there be a return of interest. But you never hear back from them and they are forgotten, hence always a little fish. Maketunes is not the place to get the record label. Maketunes is about furthering oneself in their musical journey and to get inspired and to inspire, and to be heard and to hear, to comment and comment on. They have as much interaction as a big wig. They are not going to download any songs, because they don't care about anyone but themselves. I am sure this is ringing a bell and you all have seen artists that fit this description to a 'T'. I could care less about them then an ant to be stepped on. If I offer to collaborate with you, I would rather be told flat out, "No Sole! You really really suck! I mean honestly" then to never get a response. Downloading songs shows your support. The first one to comment to someone new shows your support. Everyone here who has responded to this forum for example is a big fish to me. They are going outside themselves to show their thought patterns and aren't so selfish as to not even click on a forum link or another user's song.
NKOLYVODIAKOS? I feel you might have been thinking that I thought you were a little fish when you mentioned about not commenting on my music and yet have downloaded almost everyone of my songs! That is friggin awesome! Do you know how many times my very very first song has been downloaded? Once or twice. I wish more people were like you because I love that song to death and the lyrics there are some of my best yet and explain my fatherly emotions that I feel for my kids. My memory is better then my time. NKOLYVODIAKOS you don't mind if I use you as an example do you? I know that you are the first one to welcome bannyhop from Russia, by commenting on his music. I also remember telling both of you that I would comment on both of your songs and that I haven't listened to your music yet. I went straight to bannyhop first and listened to all his songs, ran out of time that day and been a busy beaver since. I still haven't, but want you to know I haven't forgotten you or my promise to you. I still plan on doing so. I told you I would listen to you for the simple fact that you welcomed someone to maketunes and that is what it is about. I look to the right now and seen in the recent comments the name of an artist over and over again. This person is full of themself and I will never hear anything the artist makes again, let alone comment on it. The person uses the site for promotion only. Little fish. NKOLYVODIAKOS is a big fish. You are active NKOLYVODIAKOS and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to be involved in this forum as well. I thank all of you and I hope this clarifies things that fall into the grey realm portion of my original forum incerpt. Great discussion, great forum. Friends! Thank you for taking the time guys in making this site what it is and without feedback we lose that inspiration. The foundation of making music. Thank you EUGOD for understanding and You Matt for EVERYTHING, and you big scoop, and Illusivemind and Amittai and EGOLDs. You guys rock.
One more thing. It is impossible for me to hear all the music uploaded on the site. When a person puts a request on my forum I make sure to put aside time to hear it, because the artist put aside time to post the request on my forum. They showed interest and therefore, so do it. Because they went outside themselves. This note to all future uploaders: I do not know you exist unless I happen to see a recent comment that sparks my interest and I check it out or you post a request in the forum. Do unto others as they would have you do unto them. I believe this. PEace out and sorry for my long explanation. I know I have said some things that will get you guys talking more and therefore what I want on maketunes happens! Involvement! Peace! :0)
