Hello Guest - SOLE VOX/SYNTH HIP HOP CONTEST!

Welcome to the new Hip Hop Contest of the new year! The last competition saw lots of heat as producers flocked in to produce their beats within a two week timeframe! This contest is MUCH different and the rules have changed exponentially. This time around you MUST submit hiphop tracks that include at least 7 Sole vox samples from the vox sample kit found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?cyz7x12dwsu You also have the right to submit completely renovated submissions of works previously created as long as they are within the following guidelines:
- you MUST collaborate with another artist that is Currently a member on maketunes in order to use a previously posted hip hop track. This is new collaborations only! Not previous collaborations. The NEW collaboration must include the two current members of maketunes and at least one of the original instruments has to be replaced with a different instrument. ALso there has to be at least two new instruments added to the collaboration track. This plus the 7 Sole Vox addition is a must for the collaboration division.
For the rest of you hip hoppers, create away! Have fun and there will be a artist vocal division and a instrumental division. There will not be a sampled division like last time and all sampled work will be competing with all the instrumental tracks and fall under the 'Instrumental' division only!
You must NOT post to this forum or upload to maketunes any tracks until January 1st or else they will NOT count!
For you prolific artists such as myself(when I am in the mood) there is NO LIMIT as to how many songs you wish to submit! Go crazy with it. Quit your job-make music! Love life? What is that? Get obsessed with it but keep the heat out of the forum. Any disagreements need to be taken elsewhere as well as small talk(this includes me who is BAD about that). Keep posts to a minimum please otherwise we will be onto the dreaded Page 2 and that is rather annoying. You may ask why I am laying on these rules. It is because the contest officially starts on January 1st and will allow submissions until Sonya's birthday which falls on January 23rd! This is more then three weeks! Be aware that after 200 comments you will have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and then click page 2 to view the current posts. I say this now because it is likely to happen with no limit as to the number of songs to submit. Anyone that speaks ill toward anyone else in the competition will be disqualified immediately! You must post the link to your song in this forum in order for it to count! Teddy Brazello, DJ Bizzerk, and Ed are the judges.
Here is another expansion set including synth/vox samples in addition to the original vox sample pack. As before, you MUST use 7 of the samples contained in the two packs to count. The 2nd expansion set includes 256 kbit synths and several beats. Slow them down or speed them up but you must use them. It is not a requirement that the judges count the sample amount. I will do that personally. If I don't hear 7 of them in the song I will email you or notify you in other ways. The synth samples are of the finest quality and clarity and made by yours truly with FL 7 and assorted VSTIs. Thanks and enjoy. The third pack has been removed because Capricorn 1 owns it now. UPDATE::::::::::::::::::::::::: Starting JANUARY 9th you can use samples from a previous Sole vox project which never got finished. This sample pack has singing samples as well as rap, to be used however way you want to. Just be sure to follow the vox rules of the forum and chop and cut and or whatever way you want. Do be aware these are raw recordings and has to be picked over to find stuff but this IS still a challenge right? Each WORD used from this third pack is considered a vox sample. THis is because it takes creativity to chop and align and tweak to sound just right. Here is the link for the 3rd pack!

Update for vocalists not interested in using my vox: Criminal Elementz Production is donating a track to whoever writes and sings the best lyrics to the beat which can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/?acdfexg91lv The name of the song is When Angels Cry but whoever does the very best job with the tune gets to keep the track 100 percent copyright free! The deadline is by the end of the month! Do be aware this is longer then the competition submission deadline. Also be aware that all people involved in some way with this hip hop competition will be the judges. We all will have a bid on the best of the best and you may cast your vote in after the month of January is over! The most votes for a particular artist gets it. Also you can shorten it as it is kind of long. Cheers!

you forgot to mention what the prizes are this time around.
Winners will receive original melody made by myself, which will be longer then 1 minute in length. It will come with a beat and the prize will be the beat with the melody, plus each separate. Three wavs totalling more then a minute. That way someone can use the samples to it's fullest, and they are the winners prize. I have no rights to the melodies that will be given as prizes!
:0) By the way if a sampled/collab track happens with the rules above, then that is 2 possibilities for winning.
3 divisions .... COLLaboration, Instrumental, and Vocal. My vocal samples don't count as part of the vocal division either. Vocal tracks are the artist who is submitting singing away, plus he has to have 7 of my samples mixed in.
Sole.........what program do I need to download and open this vox file?
any unrar program. I use Winrar. Look around. There are free software programs out there for getting it bro. A rarred file is just a zipped file. Look or ask around bro.

Here it is... Probably the only submission to this contest... I'm not too pleased with all the restraints and stipulations in this contest. The vocal samples, as nice as they sound, just don't have enough variation for my style. It's as if I have to mold and form myself into a specific shape to fit a certain keyhole... I'm less of a person to open doors with keys and more of a person to use a boot to the door. I guess more varied vox samps to choose from might have helped, but I'm not baggin' on ya Sole. I'm just more of a free form instrumentalist. But I couldn't just NOT submit anything! So here's my submission... Maybe I'll fuck around a bit more and try to do another. Oh yeah, I chopped up the samps, but I did use pieces of 7.

That's the idea. THis is a challenge as well as a contest. I might upload some more though as I was thinking the same thing. Truthfully I have over half a gig of my own samples. Luckily this contest goes on for a full three weeks and then some. I think I will Cap. I gotta do it on my days off though. I will make all new ones though and leave it to you guys to tweak. The original sample pack stays though. There will just be another one and I will add the link in the forum introduction! I also will add some instrumental samples that I made. Cheers!

Hey thanx bro! Did you like the sound quality of those synths? I aint adding anymore though. I do have an indefinite amount which can be gotten from over 400 FLP's in the Sole making and taking individual samples from each instrument, but that would be too easy man. There has to be a challenge or nothing. Also be aware you can use some of the same ones you have used before in other song amounts.... it isn't so much about the challenge aspect as it is I like to hear me in the hip hop. Silly I know but it's true. For example. There are two samples "Get with the Mutha Fn" and the other "program" . A laugh before and a different one after and there is four vox samples right there. Throw in a portion of the cello ...no prob. Just two to go. Stretch out something and make it untangible and add a gangsta beat and basically you got a tiny obstacle of using the vox but creating your own music. From here on the contests will not have a obstacle like the stipulations used in this contest. Just have fun! Don't forget about the collaboration angle either. That's a whole different division. The first song uploaded that Wolf and I did falls in that category though, but CHino lives right down the road from you right? Peace!

By the way the third pack has some nice singing in it whereas the other two sample packs don't. But you gotta grab it from amongst live basically raw recording! Each word used from the 3rd sample pack counts as a sample. Getting 7 shouldn't be a problem! I will wait until two days are left in the contest and if no one tries to grab Criminal Elementz song I am gonna write and sing quickly to it to OWN "When Angels Cry" but if there are other playas out there I want to allow them to own it instead. I got plenty of enough tracks of my own(14 pages of links here on maketunes) already. Heheheh(laughing evilly)

hell yeah! All 3 of mine made it! I thought the divisions were collab, Instrumental and Vocal? All three of my tracks had no samples other than the ones from sole's packs.

Stay tuned for judgement consultation in regards to regulations. "When Angels Cry" is still up for grabs and isn't over yet until the end of the month when everyone gets to vote on the winner of the track.
This competition had a decent number of contenders and alot of nice tracks. To clear up any confusion, all of the tracks in the top ten list either contained soles voice samples or music created by sole. The only exception is Geichis don't sleep track because he put enough of his own vocals in it to be considered for the vocal division. All the tracks without sole on them were considered in the other divisions. Also, Hurrikane forgot to post his song on this forum so he was left out due to competition rules. All that leaves is the track produced by criminal.

Ed is starting an electronic one up on February 1st! Hiphop contests wont be for a few months probably though. I myself am taking a host break. I had two hiphop contests back to back and I need a breather and to finish multiple projects like bringing Jimmi Hendrix back to life by reporducing Along The Watchtower with Guitarman.
