hey guys, i was wondering that if i buy a firewire mixer like alesis has some models out their...will it serve as a firewire interface like a presonus firepod? or like the mackie sattellite...will it do the same stuff...AND be a mixer?...any know bout this at all?....thanx in advance for the help.....because i was thinkin that i need a mixer for my live gigs and i also needed a interface for my studio so i thought y not buy a all in one product rite? lolzzzz

That's a good question. I'm not too savvy on mixers yet, but I think you'll probably need to get the two separate in order to get the most out of 'em.

i think im gonna take a ride down to guitar center and see what the the alesis multimix can do..test it out lolzz...because i really dont wanna spend money on 2 things. i would rather spend it on one thing that can do all i need.

i just bought a firepod..it was the demo @ guitar center...for 199.00..thats REALLY cheap huh?...it's like brand new..they just had it on display in the corner.lol

Reading on various forums, I hear that mixers like xenyx 1204 are a very good choice (as analog sums better than digital). It does support firewire interface function, but from what I hear any of the low-midrange mixer/firewire combo's are pretty lame sound quality if used in firewire mode.

yea,i tried the behringer @ guitar center...it's wasn't that good...but i got the presonus FIREpod..this thing gives me studio quality even with my radioshack mic...lol...and it retails @ 500,i got it for 200..now that's a steal :)
