Hey Guys, Im Chewy, more commonly known as Komplex
Right Ive been rapping for 2 years, and did start off producing, but laid down on the low for a good year. Now my gear is very limited... MXL.008, Mic stand, pop filter, yeah that stuff, some crappy setof speaKers from 1988 or something. and my AKG headset commited suicide on me :(
Right Im looking to set up a kick ass speaker set for my comp for production, recording, and chillin out to music, and movies(mostly that) fact isi know jack about it.
I was planning on getting some KRK's RP-8 (2 pairs) a KRK V12s (heart wants the mackie1501, but too pricey and too big) Im also thinking getting one more pair but can't make my mind up. Now I do want to throw away $9000 or something stupid for an awesome speaker set. so I was wondering if i could get some insight.
Do I need a mixer, whats the most affordable amp i could get, how do i hook the speakers up? do i need a new stuff? how expensive are Cermanic fuses? et cetera
I was wondering if i should bother with this and whether it will fetch more X-factor then getting a logictech Z-5500 or a consumer JBL home theatre.
Im budgetting around $2500-$4000 US, This makes it a lil difficult as KRKs RP-8 G2 will cost me around $700 for a pair.
please fill me in
Thanks Chewy.

Well...movies and music usually don't mix well: you want surround amp and speakers for movies while you really DON'T want those for stereo music production. Time to make up your mind, split up the problem or compromise either way....
"I blow minds for a living..." (Jello Biafra, 1991)
...or at least try to (me, just now)
yeah I thought it would be like that... had a feeling...
anyways can you give me any insight to what else i would need if I got some KRK's?
- Mixers?
- Amplifiers?
- Ceramic Fuses? other Fuses?
If i get 4x KRK's RP-8(140 watt) and a KRK V12s
then what amp will be recommended, a 2000W? 1500W? crown?
Although its not ideal, for what its worth, I use my KRK RP8s for everything, making music, listening to music, movies, tv, the works... I have my pc connected to a Mackie mixer, so I do have some easy control of basic EQ to get it sounding how I want, eg if wanting bass heavy mp3 playback for when people are round having drinks, or getting movie sound just right etc.
Personally I don't mind not having surround sound for movies, and the clarity/power of the monitors has meant I've abandoned my TV built-in speakers, and my old Sony mini system, and I'm happy using these for everything.
That said, you have a much better budget than I did or do, so your options must be much greater.... I'm not really sure what to suggest, as I haven't dealt with the more expensive options myself. Just thought I'd let you know my situation anyway.
Oh and welcome to maketunes too by the way Chewy
^ thanks for the welcome matt, yeah i heard KRK's were versatile in that way, i also thought when your haing a party of a few hundred people there might be loud enough,( ihope lol)
yeah Im the kind that always prefers to fork out for quality over quantity. Getting a real good sound, PC, etc is important to me. just formy pure satisfaction. I paid $2400 for my PC lol.
Other then that, I think I can afford to budget on that kind money. i make around $650 a week, and about a couple to sometimes several thousand a month on top, selling illegal DVD's cheap car parts to people, anything i can make money off. Im not gonna go crazy and buy mackie this, and Genelecs that.. of course.
just wondering what would consider ith hat budget?
