Tascam DR-1: Recommended Semi-Portable Speakers

Just bought a DR-1 and am liking it a lot. I go away to a semi-rustic spot every summer and would like to be able to play the DR-1 through decent powered speakers. These should have the following qualities:

1. Not tiny (and tinny) fold-up plastic things, but also easy to pack up and transport by car. Not the size of my regular studio monitors.

2. Should run off AC current as well as batteries. Rechargeable batteries would be best.

3. Should have volume, balance and at least a bass and treble control.

4. Many iPod speaker systems sound good with iPods but even if they have an auxiliary input, they don't sound anywhere as good through that input. Want to avoid that.

5. Adequate bass and midrange. Would prefer not to lug around a subwoofer.

6. Don't need to be mega-powerful. Will be in a medium-sized room.

Any suggestions?
