Update your MPD24 OS firmware to 1.09

When I bought my Akai MPD24 a while back, its operating system (also known as firmware) was 1.05.

Since then there have been a few updates, with the most recent to date being 1.09 which I actually only just noticed had been out for ages! Oops :)

You can download the MPD24 1.09 OS from here.

Heres the release notes from Akai...

Date: 03/07/07
New features/Changes:
1. Add MIDI CC functionality to the transport buttons.

Bug fixes:
1. Ensure that Sysex Device Enquiry is sent over both USB and MIDI
2. Fixed Updater to work with Windows Vista PCs.
3. Fixed bug where pads set to send program change would always send a 0 through the MIDI connection.

New features/Changes:
1. When working with Uniquest in ECSM mode, sysex pressure from pad is sent when note-on is confirmed.
2. Improved handling of multiple simultaneous note-ons
3. Default PARAMETER_LCDCONTRAST set to 66
4. Improved fader and pot ballistics.

Bug fixes:
1. Fixed bug where aftertouch value of zero was not sent with Note-Off
2. Fixed bug where first message in pad toggle mode was not note-on under some circumstances

On second thoughts... maybe not! I'm having all kinds of headaches trying to get my MPD24 to successfully update to 1.09 .... I'll post an update here once its all sorted.

Well after trying for ages earlier tonight to get the 1.09 firmware update insalled using Vyzex, I gave up on that one and went back to the old Uniquest software. Got it installed with that in 5 mins. Well, I suppose its the result which counts ;)

updates updates updates.... There's always something to be kept up with in a studio. I NEED A STAFF!!! A TEAM!!! Then I'd tell my employees to keep all my gear up to date or else "you're FIRED!!!!!!"
