As musicians, we usually have a favorite instrument, or piece of studio equipment. Maybe for sentimental reasons, or maybe it's some studio gear that took your sound to the next level?
I'm curious to hear what the most important addition to your home studio was so far, and why?

I think it was a while ago when I went from monitoring with headphones only to proper studio monitors. It opened up a whole new world in listening to my music. Love, Ingrid
the computer of course.....lol....no but really if it wasn't for my computer none of this would have happened....
id say my midi keyboard was the most important cause it made it so much easier when I make a beat
my inca 88 soundcard
I ve been using it for almost 7 years and it still works
the most producers I met laughed at me when they saw it
screw them, I ve made more good songs with it than them with their 30.000 $ pro tools systems
it's not about how big you have it, it's about how you use it
(I'm talking about soundcards of course)
Well... After a long time with a barely working PC on life support, I finally got a PC working with enough specs to run the software... But that's not all. I got 2, yes 2 PCs out of the deal. I just need RAM for the other one. I'm gonna run them together using the one I have up and running as just a MIDI host to take the cpu and memory load off of the other one I need RAM for. I'm gonna be trying out MIDI over LAN. That way, I'll be able to run more VST. So that's the best thing I added lately, but overall..
Gotta be the MIDI controller. Before that it was, write the piece on my Yamaha PSR-540 (I had no MIDI ports back then... Still don't! With me, its all USB now.) then manually tick it in the piano roll in what ever software I was using. , playing it over and over to make sure it was what I wanted. Eventually got a program that let you use the computer's keyboard as MIDI. I got the M-Audio Keystation 49e about 3.5 years ago. Now, I've gotten my intonation and rhythm up to such a good level with the MIDI, more than half the time, I don't use the quantize function in Reason.

My personal favorite in my studio is my C-1 Behringer Condenser Microphone. If you hold it it feels so light, smooth and cold. I hold it when my hands burning.

First it was my KRK monitors. Love em, love em, love em.
Then it was my QuadCore. Processor power is what you need when playing with multiple VSTis.

Damn Adam! An FCA202, Xenyx802, and C1?!? That was me and Rell's first set-up almost to the tee! We had the UCA202, which is the usb version of the FCA. That C1 a bad motha! We recorded G-Shit with that set-up into Audition 3.0.
