I've had great success with my Behringer C1 Studio Compressor Mic. Picked it up for about 70 bucks. You'll need to do some sound isolation for this mic, but not that much. Just hustle and flow that shit. (I used empty cardboard egg cartons from a waffle house. but drink holders will work fine.) If you want to hear what this mic sound like, check this track out http://www.maketunes.com/audio/g-shit-by-rell-prod-capricorn-one
It'll do what it do till it done
You keep it pimp... I'm a keep it gangata!

this is a little more but worth it..i got an audio technica 3035, condensor mic for 299....
How about the most versatile mic I can think of: the Shure SM57.
Retail is $99-$160 but most stores and online sites sell it for about $90.
It can capture great vocals with the correct placement and room. It's the #1 most used mic for live and studio snare drum miking. It performs great for elec or acoustic guitar, bass, drums, and all types of vocals both in the studio and on the field/live.
Every engineer at every studio has at least two or three SM57s, no joke.
i have the mxl v63m, its real cheap and i'm upgrading soon....but i like the results i get from the mic. what really help my mic is a tube preamp and also antares mic modeler. you can check out my tracks to see the sound i get
Yeah, I think MXL is alright. I use the MXL2003 for all of my vocal recordings, and most of my acoustic guitar too. I wouldn't say I'm completely satisfied with it... But I can't tell how good it really is because I don't have a good room for recording in. The room is literally more important than the mic, or at least it's higher up on the priority list of getting "good sound." At school I'm working on the SSL 4000G+ and we tested a Neumann U87 Ai, AKG414B XLII, EV RE20, Blue Baby Bottle, and a Shure SM57. Some of those mics are several thousand dollars while the SM57 is only $90 and the SM57 can sound better than the rest when placed correctly, in the correct room, for the correct voice.
If you haven´t already bought one, check out www.thomann.de and search for the t.bone 450 (or any other t.bone studio mic).
Really good deal and great quality. I recorded my whole album with it, also used it to mic acoustic guitars.
A friend of mine prefers this one to some $ 1,000 mic he has in his studio...

For $199 you can have the Rode NT1-A. The name says it all. Do a review search on Google of this mic. You won't be disapponited. You'll need a preamp(48v phantom) on this condencer mic.
