whats better FL studio or reason

just wondering everyones opinion on this matter...i have both and use them equally.....

I have them both also, but I use FL more because for one reason it has more mixing effects than Reason, and it's more of an "all-in-one" environment, but as far as sounds go, I like reason better because of the malstrom... and I like that kind of synth over those fm synths.. not really my style....

but anyway, Fl and Reason go hand in hand in my setup; I recently started to take all of my good Reason beats and ReWire them to Fl so I can use those better mixer effects in FL... And I can even control a Malstrom in Fl through MIDI OUT and ReWire...

I'm working on a design(three actually) of a Dashboard generator plugin in FL that can control the most important knobs on each Reason device(i.e. Malstrom, redrum, nn-19, etc.) so that I (and others) won't have to switch back and forth between FL and Reason just to tweak a knob or two... Just some of the things going on in my setup...

Also, in an effort to have more original samples available, I'm thinking about compiling a good sample kit of pads, synths, some instruments, and of course, drums...

Oh but yea stew, I like FL better lol

Never been a FL guy... I've used VST type production software, but reason has limitless instruments and sounds. It's easier to just use a refill than to install a plug-in. As for mixing FX, I seem to have a good grasp on how to get the fx to work for me. If you truely know reason in and out, you can mix and pre-master everything right in reason. Then when it comes time to record, i just rewire to Pro Tools or export each track and throw them into abobe audition 3.0. (Depends on who I'm recording and where I'm at. I personally have and frequently use audition to record 'cuz I have no good hardware to fully utilize the power in Pro Tools) But l8tly I've been hearing the quality comin' out of the new FL8 and I'm starting to think I need to cop it just to see what it can do for me. I started producing solely using software in '99. I was doing some DnB and jungle in Rebirth 2.0. Moved to a phrase sampler program called Tuareg and then Tuareg 2. That's when I moved from DnB to hip-hop (It's not a big stretch, DnB is just double time Hip-Hop with more emphasis on electronic FX) Upgraded my PC, started using some budget VST software called Making Waves. Got my hands on reason and it's interface was something very unfamiliar to me. But it just clicked after about an hour fuckin' with it. So as to which is better, neither is better. To me it seems a personal preference. Perhaps you have found the key, by using both and integrating one with the other.

It'll do what it do till it done
You keep it pimp... I'm a keep it gangata!

My vote is for Reason, but I have both, and I think it very much depends on which one suits your personal creative style. Reason for me inspires me to be creative and also gives me great control through the rack analogy, and its stable, all-in-one environment.

It is a bit limiting in some areas, such as audio recording, but there are work arounds to these. The only thing I miss is VST plugins which Reason does not do off the bat, however savvy use of Rewire gets around this.

I have reason & FL & a couple other programs, but most of all FL is just Very Very Eazy to reload & customize Sounds.
Hell I can even Drop my own Folders Into FL's Program Folders easy. I found FL also to be alot more complicated only as far as drumlines, only because most of the time you have to come up with them. Its for those small "reasons" that I deleted the rest of my programs & keep them on Back up.
