Your Favourite VST

Hi Maketunes, Was wondering which VSTs other producers loved the most. So I decided to create a topic that will help and enable others to try out VSTs from producers they love.

For me When it comes to piano sounds I'll go for "Lizard lounge" & "Edirol Orchetral"
For Sax, Trumpets, flutes & Horns, I'll go for "Saxlab"
For Guitars, I'll go for Hypersonic
For Strings, Ill go for Edirol Orchestral
For bass, I'll go Z3+ Wavestation and Novation bass station
For Synths and those gangsta sounds, I'll go for minimonsta
Legacy cell is also very good for synths and leads.

The list goes on and on but at this point others view will be appreciated. This is just another of broadening ones horizon on VSTs.

i mite have to have a look for some of those plugins you've mentioned...could do with some good sounds like those =]

I use Vanguard/z3ta/sylenth and a load of other smaller plugins, but even then i still edit them in the VST and add tons of automation/effects and mastering =]

Matt.

There're tons of vst and vst topics out there.

Anyway, i can suggest:

Piano: Mda piano layered and verbed.
Bass & Wobble bass: Polysix/Zebra/Circle/Itchy/Z3ta. Need to be tweaked.
Guitars: Amplitube applied on anything, also on mda piano.
Strings: Atmosphere/Cult sampler/Chinese winds.

More plugins you have the less creativity in your mind.
that's my point of view.

fm8 and nexus and all those semi romplers are cute toys for lazy people and serial (not serious) music.

I really love decent vstis - Camel Audio Alchemy is a favourite, as well as Zeta. Love, Ingrid

I know its a little old, but I am a huge fan of the Albino2. Sharp synths and rich sounds. Honestly, though, I am a hardware guy. Give me 64 keys and a flight case to put them in. Ingrid, Camel Audio is the jam, too!
But, you can't get anything to sound like the Access Virus, so that is a t the tippity top of my list.

access hardware is great even not so very friendly and tooooo much expensiive.
i'll buy one day...

yeah...very expensive but oh-so worth it. Even the desktop version is perfect, but to me, there is no better live synth. I would marry it if it were legal.
Holler.

REFX NEXUS, CAMEL PHAT, CAMEL SPACE, VANGUARD, FM8, POIZONE some of my faves, with NEXUS EASILY taking the very top of my list. There is nothing better to me.

i wasn't a fan of vanguard until my homie got sum packs for it, the sound it comes wit didn't impress me but it's cool i use it every now and then. synth1 is a good free vst with hundreds of sounds people have made but i haven't really used it cuz i jus got it. i like albino, hypersonic, and predator.

Kronic's picture

Guitar: Slayer 2 [distortion + leads] RealGuitar 2 [acoustic nylon fingered]

Drums: Toontrack Superior Drummer 2 [metal foundry, evil drums] and Battery 3 [Mostly based on the tight kit but highly modified]

Bass: I perfer hardware rack mounts like JV880 and such. Still looking for a great bass vst...

Lead Synths: Kontact 5, Nexus 2, Sonik Synth 2

Rhythm Synths: Absynth, Massive, Nexus 2, Sytrus

Orchestral: Garrington Personal Orchestra, , soniksynth 2 [other than that i use hardware, reason for some, and good old original midi soundfont for some stuff.

I'm always changing things up though. Alot of my rc hiphop is done through external midi rack mounts and looped back into a UA. Which replaces alot of the things I mentioned up above. But these are the things I "Write" my originals and stuff with when trying to find.

About the rob papen stuff. Never been a huge fan, I tried blue, albino and some other one and they were ok but event with extension pack on albino never found anything that really got to me.

And the Nexus I love. It's one of my favorite synths for writing club and dance hiphop/pop.
