I don't really have many good photos because of the black soundproofing on the walls it is a very dark room.
Yeah I'm still running logic on PC. I had intended to switch to cubase to be on a more up to date sequencer but I just find it so counter-intuitive it slows my workflow down to no end. Wiring the Soundcraft into the motu properly this weekend and will be doing all mixing down and summing in the analog domain from now on.
Saving for a mac pro for the last major upgrade, then I'm just going to add a couple rackmount bits to round the setup out and get the recording booth online. Thinking of a Focusrite Compounder and a few other bits like mastering reverb and eq.
I had intended for it to be a creative space for me to makes tunes and other producers to come and collaborate in. I'm not too fussed about turning it into a commercial venture but it would be nice to eventually make it pay for itself at least.
The crazy thing is I've offered use of it to so many producers here in NZ but no one seems keen.
All I really want is to walk into a club one day and hear my tunes rocking the crowd. Once I have a large enough body of work I might even re-launch my DJ career and start doing live sets with Ableton.
Thats awesome dude. Great to see someone so into putting together a sweet studio space, and extending an invitation to other people too... hard to believe no ones keen. Though as far as producers go, perhaps it might be the old thing, you're always most at home with your own production setup - even if its a crusty old 486 running fasttracker, ya know? Well, slight exaggeration, but you get my meaning. Maybe thats the reason. But I'm sure a lot of folks out there would love the chance to start hanging out in a studio like that, so that they could gradually learn the ropes in a studio environment - hardware and software - not to mention pick up a bunch of accumulated knowledge from yourself.
I had a while there when a DJ friend of mine heard my drum n bass tunes and liked them, so we formed a little partnership... I'd make the tracks, he'd DJ them on cd mixers. We did a couple of drum n bass clubs and outdoor raves. A lot of fun, and a BIG thrill to have loads of people dancing to my music! Though kind of odd, as he was DJing, so I was free to wander out from behind the decks, and go dance anonymously amongst the people myself :)
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Alot of them seem happy to sit infront of their pc and make tunes on FL. The annoying thing is some of them get a much better result than I do with all my toys. I am admittedly a gear junky with a bad case of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Very nice indeed. Thats one hell of a collection of studio/musical gear in my books :)
Any chance of posting some more photos of your studio/equipment? I'm sure there will be a lot of folks drooling as we speak.
Drooling Is An Understatement! That Setup Is Something To Envy Bro..
Psh, I've got everything but the Absolute bottles...
I wish.
Logic 5? That would be the last version available on Windows I believe... It was still owned by E Magic then wasn't it?
What a great rig you've got man... This is a prime example of how I'd like to set a studio up, looks great man. I bet it feels good too.

Yeah thats whats important - feeling comfortable in your sequencer/workflow.
So this is being established with commercial studio work in mind? Or is the focus mainly on your own projects?
