You made all these sculptures?
yeah mate and i have more as well!!
You've crafted some pretty cool sculptures by the way Jim. God only knows how you manage it! I'd hate to think what I'd come up with if I tried to hack a chunk of wood into something meaningful! I think I'll stick with my music and web stuff ;) Leave the art to the talented!
my god man youre web site is an awesome achievment ! i could never do what you have done, i wouldnt know where to start, youre a genius matt!
Cheers!
Ha well I guess everyone has their calling, which ideally can help shape a future for each of us (if that is what is wished for).
I know a lot of artists find it difficult to make a living doing what they love, but things happen ya know. I recently saw a mention on the regional news about this old fella who loved to carve native wood, and paint, so he bailed out of his job and went and got a small house on the Coast somewhere (which has a lot of wild native bush like this).
There, he setup a small art studio and worked there to create all kinds of paintings, and sculptures - some of which he placed amongst the native trees and ferns etc, where they became overgrown with moss and took his sculptures closer to nature, which is what inspired them.
Then, to more easily bring in the rich clay for his sculptures, he built a narrow winding railway line from his studio to the clay source in the hills. That rail line is now a popular tourist attraction earning him money, while they take trips through the native forest, and see his sculptures along the way... earning him some income etc.
When I saw that guy on the news, I was like "some people only listen to their dream, and make it HAPPEN..."
thats an awesome story..what a dude he must be!!!
Ya ...sounds like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. A thinking man.
